It's been two since Gabriel came home from the infirmary and it was amazing to spend time together not having to worry about school or work. Maggie cleared him to be able to ride but nothing crazy, it would be another week or so before she would clear him for active duty.
We were at the orphanage to drop off Timothy so Gabriel and I could ride up to look at some horses since I needed to get one because of Sergeant's retirement. "Thank you so much for watching, Timothy. It makes it so much easier to look at horses." I said with a giggle as I looked at him in her arms.
"Oh, it's no problem. I love when I can watch him, he's a great baby." Lillian smiled as we walked to the front door. "We shouldn't be more than a couple of hours, thank you again. Be a good boy for Auntie Lillian, Timothy Gabriel." I smiled kissing him. "Mrs. Kinslow are you kissing another guy?" Gabriel joked as I walked over to him, "Oh maybe. He stole my heart pretty easily, Mr. Kinslow." I joked back as Gabriel reached out his hand and helped Mr jump up on Apollo's back. "Looks like a got some compassion going on." Gabriel smiled as we rode off, I just laughed at his comment.
Chuck was showing me a couple of horses but nothing caught my eye until he showed me a beautiful paint mare.
"And this beautiful girl is Juniper, she's a great horse rode her a couple of times myself. Smooth canter, great trot not bumpy at all." He informed me, I opened the stall door and was starting to pet her when she put her head on my shoulder. I smiled at Gabriel and he knew what I was thinking. "We'll take her." Gabriel smiled looking at him as I continued to pet her.We were heading back to the orphanage, Chuck gave me some old tack so I could ride her home. "She's a beautiful horse, Adeline. You choose well." Gabriel smiled as we walked back to town, I smiled before responding, "I didn't choose her, she chose me." I simply smiled as told him.
"Wanna race back to town? It's only about two miles from here." Gabriel smiled, "Gabriel you can only walk with Apollo, Maggie said nothing more." I told feeling like more of a mother to him. "Oh come on, I know what my body can handle. Besides my wound is nearly healed." Gabriel said trying to convince me, "You are not gonna change my-" I was cut off by Gabriel taking off into a canter. "Gabriel Kinslow!" I yelled before making Juniper start into a canter.
We were racing back to town and I found myself laughing and enjoying myself even though tenacity he wasn't supposed to be doing this but sometimes you got to be a rule breaker. Apollo was a fast horse but Juniper was too which made it a tie when we arrived back at the orphanage, "See you had fun." Gabriel said as we hopped off our horses and tied them to the house, I started to walk off when Gabriel pulled me back and right into a kiss. "I love you." I smiled as we pulled apart, "I love you too." Gabriel smiled as he walked hand-in-hand to the door to get our baby.
The rest of the week flew by and we enjoyed our time together I'm gonna miss it when Gabriel goes back to work and school starts which is soon. I was currently sitting outside the infirmary with Timothy in my arms as we waited to hear if he could go back to duty.
A couple of minutes later the door opened and Gabriel walked out talking to Maggie they said their goodbyes before he smiled as he walked over to us.
"Soooo?" I asked with a smile, "Are you going back to work?"
"Well, come Monday I'm back on active duty!" Gabriel said with a huge smile he was excited to be able to go back.
"That's wonderful! I'm happy to hear it, I'm sure you're more than ready!" I smiled as we hugged, he took Timothy from my arms and smiled. "Daddy it's to go back to work!" He smiled looking at Timothy, the interaction made me smile.
"Adeline Kinslow!" I heard my name from behind me, I turned around to see Penny and Leo, I let out a squeal and ran off to meet penny. "Penny Coulter!" I said as we hugged, "What are you doing here in Brookfield?" I asked as we pulled apart.
"Well, Leo and I wanted to tell you that," She hand showing me her hand which had an engagement ring on her finger. "We're getting married!" She told me as I let out another squeal in excitement.
"Congratulations!" I smiled as I hugged Leo, "Where's the wedding?" I asked as we pulled apart.
"Two weeks, we didn't want to wait," Leo told me which left me shocked as Gabriel walked over.
"Gabriel," Leo said sending him a smile since he couldn't shake his hand.
"Leo." Gabriel half smiled back Gabriel still didn't like him all that much.
We talked for a bit more before we invited them to the house so we could continue to visit, Gabriel didn't love the idea but did it for me. They were getting married in two weeks in Hope Valley and I would be the matron of honor which I was blessed to be. Penny and I made dinner as the men talked and Timothy was in his father's arms, I smiled at him which he did back.
"You two are so in love, I can see it by the way you guys look at each other. I'm happy I've finally found that." Penny said as we were finishing up dinner, I smiled at her words.
"It took us a bit to get here but I couldn't be happier. I have an amazing man who I love and a perfect baby boy. I'm happy you found it, it only gets better." I smiled as I told Penny. "Dinners did," I added letting them know, Gabriel got up and put Timothy in his bassinet and walked over to me, and kissed me.
"You know how much I love you, right?" Gabriel smiled as we pulled apart. "I think I may have an idea." I smiled letting out a small giggle as did he.
Dinner was good we all had a good time together the sun was setting and they had to head back to town to stay at the hotel since we didn't have any room but hopefully that'll change her within a couple of weeks. We waved as the couple walked off, I was excited for them my two best friends are getting married.
