It was a rainy September day school had finished a few hours ago and now I was sitting in the hotel drinking some tea and talking to Grace whenever she wasn't busy. I was nose deep in my book when I realized Maggie was asking to sit at my table.
"Oh sorry Maggie. I haven't been able to put this book down all day." I told making my spot as she sat down across from me. "Rainy Saturdays do make a great day to read." She smiled as Grace came over asked what she wanted to get, she just ordered some tea.
"How have you been? Is the infirmary keeping you busy?" I asked taking a sip of my tea. "Yes, quite busy actually. The more I'm here the more I love this little town." Maggie smiled as Grace brought her tea out to her. "I completely agree. Brookfield is definitely a special town." I smiled at my friend.
"And how bout you?" Maggie asked before taking a sip of tea, "School keeps me very busy with lesson planning, grading papers and making sure their learning." I said with a chuckle, "But I love what I do." I told her with a small smile. "And how's Gabriel doing?" She asked, "Gabriel and I are taking some time apart at the moment. I'm not sure I can spend the rest of my life with a Mountie." I told her being upfront with her. "I needed time to think though everything."
"Distance is always a test of love. Many fail for those who can't withstand it, but for those who do there's only one answer. True love. You and Gabriel meant to be, you'll find a way back to each other." Maggie smiled before taking another sip of tea. "You know everyone keeps saying that." I said which a small giggle, "It's cause it's true." Maggie told me with a chuckle.
"Well, I don't suppose this rain will stop anytime soon." I said standing in the door way of the hotel with Grace, "Ugh. I hate walking home in the rain." Grace said annoyed, "At least you have a closer walk home then I do." I told her with a look. "Lillian is probably starting to wonder where I am. Goodnight Adeline I'll see you tomorrow." Grace hugged me before heading off. I smiled at my best friend I was lucky to have her. I looked over to Gabriel's office it was dark, he wasn't there yesterday he must be away on Mountie business. I sighed before opening my umbrella and walking home.
The walk home seemed like forever until I saw my house come in few, it was just about dark so I'm glad i come back when I did. I heated up some bath water and relaxed in that for awhile it was nice after a chilly day. I read some more of my book for awhile before my eyes were to tired to read any more so I called it a night. Blizzard snuggled up with me before we both drifted off to sleep.
I woke to the sound of it still raining but it was falling much harder, so I decided to stay home from church today. I didn't want to be out in that nasty weather. I made myself some breakfast which was so excited eggs and pancakes with a glass of milk. I cleaned the house which it was really starting to need since I've been so busy with school recently. The rest of the day was good, I read, took a nap, and played with Blizzard some. I couldn't help but miss Gabriel though. I know I needed some more time I missed greatly.
