As a child, one of your worst fears is probably losing a parent.

When Samarah's mother told her father that she was pregnant. Her father was beyond excited he was impassioned and that was one of the best days of his life. He wanted to better himself so as months went by he made sure to go to every appointment, make sure they had everything they would need in advance before Samarah arrived, he would read books to try and obtain all the information he could so he would be a "qualified and educated" father as he would say. He even did his best to leave the streets behind so he could set a good example for his daughter. If you asked him what was the best day of his life was he would say without hesitation that day his baby girl Samarah was born was the best day of his life.

The day he met Samarah and the moment the nurse laid her on his chest for skin-to-skin contact while his wife lay resting in her hospital bed. He vowed at that moment that he would try his best to give her the world and be the best father he could be. He wanted to be a present and participating father, he wanted to show his daughter what a real man looked like and that when she was old enough to date that he wanted her standards to be high because to him she deserved the world.

When Samarah turned 5 her father got a new job.

The job required him to work long hours but it paid well.

"Hi daddy," a young Samarah squealed over the phone.

"Hi baby," he said back as he walked back to his desk. It was time for him to leave so he came back to pack up his bag.

"Are you coming home," the little girl asked as she sat on the bar chair at the kitchen island.

"Yep"

"Ask him if he can stop for some cheese and bread," Samarah's mother asked softly as she stood at the stove cooking dinner still dressed in her scrubs.

"Daddy momma said can you get some cheese and bread," the little girl said replicating her mothers words.

"do y'all need anything else"

Waiting for her mom to tell her what to say the young girl answered, "No."

"Okay, I need to get off the phone but I'll see you when I get home," the man said as he turned off the lamp that was on his desk.

"Okay bye-bye," Samarah said before hanging up the phone.

Putting on his backpack Samarah's father silently walked out of the office. He wasn't really well acquainted with anyone in the office so he had no one to say goodbye too.

Making his way to the elevator and eventually to the parking lot the man glanced around taking in his surroundings.

The parking lot was near the edge of the thick forest and he had heard stories of robbers hiding in the forest waiting for people to come out of the building.

Making his way through the parking lot he got to his car and took out his keys.

As soon as he opened the door something grasped his backpack and pulled him back making him lose his balance.

Quickly getting up he took off his backpack so he could fully defend himself.

"Aye man," he yelled to the person dressed in dark clothes.

The two began to fight and when he went to reach for his firearm the was under his seat in the car a shot was fire.

Feel a hot pain in his stomach the man doubled over. It felt as if a thousand bees had stung him in the same spot.
