Loud and unruly. He hated such occasions. Especially when he had to look at Xiao Zhan's eyes after last night.
Ofcourse, he had no clue that it was him who had visited. Yet Yibo knew. He knew of what he had seen behind those red curtains. And reminding himself wasn't going to do any good either.
"Hey-hey! We're meeting up after a year- and you're acting like we're strangers!" Yibo glanced at Zhan to see what his reaction was. He seemed as quiet as he was, yet his eyes fixated on his hands. Had he done something wrong? "I'm just tired."
His reply seemed void of any emotion as their old cast member Qin Fang rose up. "I can see that! But hey- Wang Yibo! What is with you?"
Zhan seemed just as curious as he rose his head up and looked at him in worry.
In retun, Yibo simply shrugged without an answer.
"Wow! Do you see this Lei? What a snob!" The female actress beside him nodded and raised her glass. "We might as well do a toast before he falls asleep."
And so they all raised their glasses, including Yibo and clinked them full of ethusiasm.
Just then he got a phone call. Somehow relieved and greatfull, he left the restaurant and walked into the dark streets. "Hello?"
The line was silent as they finished listening to his voice. "Yes, hello. This is Wang Yibo right?"
Yibo replied, humming. "Yes... did something happen?" The number who had called him was Zhou Duyi's secretary. He would've lied if he said that it hadn't made him stressed, but everything was better than staying inside for that messy get-together.
"I'm calling to inform you of your appointment with Director Zhou for tomorrow morning."
Yibo was taken aback, yet also not. "Is it because of what happened with the director's brother?" The line went silent again. "...be there at eight o'clock. Sharp."
They then hung up.
Yibo sighed before stuffing his phone in his pocket and taking a breather.
He didn't want to think about anything nor did he want to think about thinking.
"...maybe i should go home..?"
"Hm, you shouldn't. It would be cruel, even for you." The voice that had come from beside him made his heart squeeze.
Aren't you the cruel one?
"Why are you here?"
Zhan glanced at his watch before leaning against the wall right beside him. Their arms squeezed together, making Yibo avert his gaze. "I was worried. You don't seem well today."
"...i suppose." Zhan sighed at his response. "That's supposed to be your cue for telling me what's wrong?"
"...maybe i should ask you that instead. Hm?"
Yibo regretted saying so as his shoulders dropped. Meanwhile Zhan became confused about what he had said.
"What... do you mean? Did i do something?" Yibo shrugged sarcastically. As much as he didn't want to hurt him, he decided to vent for once and continue his regretfull words. At least this time.
His heart was a mess of emotions, filled with the most disqusting parts of jelousy, anger and love. He had to do something to get them out. Or he wouldn't be able to go on. "I know that you're having problems which you can't talk to me about. I get that. I get that you're selfish enough to make me sit still as i tear myself imside out. Believe me, i get that. A-as a good friend, i care for you. So i don't care if you hide things from me."
Zhan listened, his eyes a little lost yet sad. "But you don't just go to someone else for advice when you have me right here, beside you."
"I... i did? But... i didn't-" Yibo snapped, raising his voice. "Really? You didn't? Think again then."
