To be or not to be, that was the question. But Zhan wanted not to be, just wanting to flee from this miserable situation which he found himself in, once more. He looked back at that person's face just to assure himself of their existence and irked his face.
"...it's you..." After a small pause, he continued. "..again..." The person in question hummed, her lips curled up in a worried smile. "Exactly! Look the thing is, the last time you-"
Zhan sighed, now covering his eyes. Seeing how the worst people always found him when he took the trash out, he decided to erase any future reason to empty the bin anymore. "Look- i don't understand why you're tailing me when i said i would call the police again- but if you're that obsessed with Yibo, then-!"
The latter shook her head as much as she could to stop Zhan from talking further. After he did in deep confusion, she heaved a deep sigh. "Look- i apologise for the last time but you've misunderstood! You see, i'm not Yibo's girlfriend- but his ex-girlfriend. It's just that i never introduced myself to someone in the same sentence as him, and ended up thinking about the past at that moment..."
Zhan frowned, a little lost. "You-! The first time i called the police on you, you didn't even try to justify that! And now you're telling me something that might be a lie- please, just leave me alone before i take drastic measures to get rid of you." With that he was about to walk away if it weren't for a phone being shoved into his face. "Look! This picture is from when i was in twelfth grade. And this beside me is-" It was Yibo. Just a lot younger than he was now. Unable to ignore, Zhan couldn't help but feel the air clumping up in his throat as he saw that, taking a step back in anger and shock. "And what the hell am i supposed to do about that? Go talk to him if you're so desperate-"
She raised her voice, protesting. "Believe me, i tried! But no matter how much i looked- he was just nowhere. I even went to the company and-.." Zhan looked down, an unusual discomfort wrapping around his chest. He didn't know how to describe the feeling, but knew one thing for sure. She was not good news. If she was this obsessed with finding Yibo, then what she had to say to him must've been very important.
He had to take what he said back, he wasn't going to let her near Yibo. Not in a million years. "How did you even get his address?" The girl shrugged, arms crossed. "I payed someone off of course! What do you think..."
Zhan looked at her eyes, careful with his words to not give anything away. "Can i get that person's name?" She scoffed. "Are you kidding me? As if i'd give my valuable source of information just like that! You must be delusional.."
Zhan now frowned, becoming angrier by the second. "Then what do you want with Yibo?" She cocked up her nose, continuing to be secretive once more. "That is between me and him. So the next time you see him, tell him that Jia came for a visit... for an old times mistake."
"You won't get to see him. Forget it." Jia scoffed, attitude more sure than ever. "Right... as if you'd be able to stop me. If you won't help me then i'll go to him myself-" Zhan pushed the tip of his tongue onto the inner walls of his cheeks, eyes pacing around angrily. "Look- Mia or Jia- or whatever you are-"
"It's Jia."
"And i care." Jia frowned at his sarcastic comment as she listened. "But i know people in places you wouldn't even imagine. Let it be a rich CEO that could destroy your life by simply spending money, or with the help of a detective that can put your name under a guilty list and then ship you off to prison." The girl who was smaller in size swallowed, slowly realising that Xiao Zhan wasn't as harmless as he'd thought. He wasn't as sweet as the vast majority made him out to be either, just scary, making one anxious deep inside. Or that's how Jia felt as Zhan pushed the anxiety onto her.
