The room had no windows, nor doors, but just a long doorway to an office he had no courage to peak into. He was surrounded by actors from all kinds, yet every time they went through the corridor, they would come back with sour expressions, causing Yibo to question if he was any worthy for this role either. He'd just probably end up getting tossed out for his looks alone, not even getting the chance to properly audition.
Such negative thoughts were surprisingly enough to keep him motivated, while the others went in and out. Soon, it was to be his turn, so he took off his jacket and relaxed, ready to walk in any moment when his name was called. But before he could do so, he suddenly got a phone call from Zhan."...Zhan? You... what happened??" His voice sounded low and hurt, so he couldn't help but show the utmost worry as he paused at his steps, stopping right at the entrance of the doorway.
"T-there was an accident- a-and Tao is in surgery- but this article-" Everything was coming too at once, making Yibo confused. "An accident? Are you okay??" Zhan groaned on the phone before nodding to himself. "Yeah- i'm fine, just a scratch... can.. can you come? I just... i know the audition but.. i need you....."
Yibo's heart ached as he held his chest and frowned. "...tell me where you are- i'm on my way." With that he rushed out of the place without even looking back. He had been too immersed in all of this, that he hadn't realised he'd been talking to Zhan as the director Eight Huang himself stared right at him from across the hall.
He had his arms crossed, eyes dark and questioning while he took a step back into his office in his black heels. "Interesting... he just dashed off." His secretary suddenly frowned, yet also a little surprised. "How dare he-! I will take him out of the list right away sir!" Eight sighed as he took a seat and began rubbing his temples. "Are you an idiot? Don't do such a dumb thing. He's the perfect one for this role."
His secretary pouted, her frown slowly fading away as she looked at him with big eyes. "But-- sir! After all the trouble you went through to make this fake audition- even going as far as inviting hundreds of actors just to dispose of them for his sake- how can he just-" Eight glared at her from the side, yet his voice calm. "Stop saying dumb stuff Nuo. As you said, i was the one who went through all the trouble. He had no ways of knowing that i'd do such a thing. It's mine to see the consequences."
Nuo thought for a bit before clearing her throat. "T-then... should we invite him again?" Eight rolled his eyes before standing up. "Stop asking the obvious and do something yourself for once! You can tell everyone to head home- i'm bored." As he grabbed his coat to leave, Nuo adjusted her glasses and nervously blinked. "A-and where are you going sir--"
"To pay a visit to your brother. It's been long since i've had a drink.. maybe too long." With that he dashed off, leaving the latter alone. Nuo looked around in confusion before fixing her messy bun and tying her hair tightly back. She then grabbed her coat as well, picked up some files which fell around as she rushed after him suit. "S-sir wait! I- i need a drink too-"
Just like that, the office was left empty once more.
In the meantime, Yibo was quick to get to the hospital. On his way there he had taken a peek at the news, wondering if the car crash had been made public yet. And it was. Yet to his surprise, the front of the hospital had been quiet empty. But that didn't mean the media wouldn't find their whereabouts soon enough.
As soon as he arrived, he rushed to the highest floor and ran towards one of the hallways. There, he saw Zhan sitting next to a plant, arms laying flat at his sides. Yet as he saw Yibo, his eyes livened up once more and he reached his arms out for him to take.
