The mud squelched under his dress shoes, splashing the polished leather with splotches of not so pleasant colour. Taehyun hadn't realized it had been raining; the party had proven way too distracting. He could hear the distant sound of clashing plates, and hums from his staff, who were currently cleaning up the house. Youngmi was in bed, and his parents were probably sleeping too. He didn't really care, as long as they weren't bugging him.
Light poured from the small, cottage-esque house, with the few lights switched off upstairs. He assumed Soobin's father had already gone to bed.
Taehyun loosened his tie, now free to unbutton his top two buttons of his white shirt. He felt like he could finally breath again. Trudging through the mud, he made his way over to the small house, stopping outside the front door. He could hear mumbles coming from behind the door, making him think Soobin wasn't alone.
He knocked the door.
Within a few seconds, the blue haired boy swung open the door, shooting a confused expression to his friend. "Tae? Is the party over?" He asked, leaning out of the door, he peered towards the main house. "Oh, I didn't realize it was so late. Do you wanna hang out?"
"It's why I'm here." Taehyun replied, garnering a giggle from Soobin. He found himself dragged into the house.
"Guys," Soobin captured the attention of his friends. "Taehyun's here."
Both boys looked to Taehyun, one much more displeased than the other. Taehyun just stared to the only person who mattered in that room, not caring about his angered expression, he was just glad to see him.
"Hey, how was the party?" Yeonjun asked, shuffling a stack of cards on the coffee table.
"It was alright." Taehyun answered, removing his muddied shoes, he lay them beside the front door. "Can I get a drink?"
"Of course, you look like you need one." Soobin giggled, pulling Taehyun over to the coffee table. He sat down next to his boyfriend, pouring a hefty amount of clear liquid into a cup. Taehyun wasn't sure what it was, but it looked like a spirit.
He took the cup from Soobin, hesitantly sitting beside Beomgyu. He knew he was annoyed at his presence, he knew he didn't want him there. If it was such a problem, Beomgyu would leave, but the fact that he stayed, proved a whole different point entirely.
Taehyun's attention turned to the stack of cards. "What are we playing?"
"Poker, and I don't wanna see any lousy bets from you rich boy." Yeonjun replied playfully. It didn't feel like he thought any different of Taehyun, he was just messing around. "Lets up the minimum bet to ₩30,000, in honor of the high roller."
The three boys instantly placed their bets, with Taehyun snapping open his wallet, and taking out his own.
"So who's getting married?" Yeonjun made small talk whilst dealing out the hands.
"Me."
"Huh?! This was your party?!" Yeonjun blurted out, eyes widening in shock. He turned to Soobin in disbelief. "You work for Taehyun?!"
Most people would have been confused at this moment, but Taehyun actually had reasonably good deduction skills. It seems that Soobin had told his boyfriend about Taehyun's wealth, leaving out the minor detail, of Soobin working for Taehyun's family.
He could see the embarrassment on Soobin's face. "No, no, I don't. Taehyun is getting married, uh-, but..."
"This isn't my party." Taehyun interjected. "Soobin doesn't work for me."
"Fuck, you scared me then." Yeonjun let out a sigh of relief. "I don't think I could be friends with my boyfriends boss, especially hearing what he says about this family."
Taehyun cocked his head. "What does he say?"
"It doesn't matter, really it's nothing." Soobin spoke anxiously.
"So them being rude to all the staff, and unfairly cutting pay is nothing now? Those people are cruel. They treat their staff no better than animals." Yeonjun ranted, his tone laced with annoyance. Soobin tried to calm him down by rubbing his thigh, but Yeonjun only continued, fixing his gaze on Taehyun. "You're literally the only good rich person I've met."
"Fucking clueless." Beomgyu mumbled under his breath.
"What did you say?" Yeonjun snapped, more agitated than before. This topic seemed to really rile him up.
"Don't snap at me like that." Beomgyu growled, the tension rising between the two.
"Why are you fighting now-"
"Well don't fucking say things under your breath!" Soobin was cut off by his boyfriend. Slamming his hands down on the table, Yeonjun glared at Beomgyu. "You've been such an asshole recently! What the fuck is up with you?!"
"I've told you before, it's none of your business!" Beomgyu raised his voice to match the volume of Yeonjun's. "Why do you care so fucking much?!"
"Because you're a mess, and more than usual! Especially when Taehyun's around! There's definitely something going on between you two!"
Taehyun gulped at his sudden mention. He knew he shouldn't get involved, the two were clearly fighting over nothing. Though, when he heard his name brought into it, he knew it would not end good. Considering, his history with Beomgyu, was far from anodyne.
"You really want to know?!" Beomgyu shouted, clambering to his feet. His breath was heavy, staring to Yeonjun in silence, before swiping all of the cards off the table, along with the drinks, that splashed all over the carpet. "Stay the fuck out of it!"
"You brat-" Yeonjun attempted to stand up, but Soobin held him back. He looked like he was about to kill Beomgyu. "You better get the fuck out of here!"
"Yeonjun stop!" Soobin yelled, struggling to hold back his boyfriend.
"No! He can't just act like this!" Yeonjun pushed Soobin away, rushing over to Beomgyu, he roughly grabbed the younger by the collar. His teeth gritted, staring into Beomgyu's eyes intensely. "You're a fucking deadbeat drug dealer, who no one even likes. Go fucking overdose on something, it's all you're good at anyway."
The room fell into silence.
Yeonjun immediately regretted what he said, even through the rage, and the alcohol, he knew that was too far.
"Gyu I-"
Yeonjun wasn't able to finish that sentence, when a firm punch was delivered to the side of his face. He jolted back, gripping his cheek, as the stinging sensation spread across his skin. He'd assumed it was Beomgyu who punched him, so when he looked up and saw Taehyun, he was extremely confused.
