The moonlight shimmered over the crystal river, rays of light catching on each and every small ripple, disturbed by the ever falling drops of rain.
Sitting at the edge of the water, shoes skimming over the river, it felt nostalgic. After Taehyun left, he decided to stop coming here. Though not intentional, this had become a somewhat sacred place for them. The memories held strong, only making it more painful for someone with a broken heart.
There was a lot on his mind right now. Anti-Romantic was his passion, his joy, his pride. He would never want to miss a performance, or let his band mates down, but...he couldn't perform when he felt like this.
These past few weeks had just been overload after overload of every emotional feeling Beomgyu pushed deep inside. They were never meant to be dealt with. He was fine ignoring them, drowning them out until they went away. However, no matter how hard he tried to pretend they weren't there, they always came back to slap him in the face.
It was impossible to ignore them anymore.
The sound of light footsteps echoed from the pavement. He didn't care too much, as though this was a quiet path, people did pass by from time to time. He continued to stare out at the river, eyes falling on a dragon fly hovering over the water. A shiver raced down his spine, caused by the icy rain drops that had him drenched.
"Everyone's worried about you."
The rain disappeared.
Beomgyu closed his eyes upon hearing the voice, it was just another way of trying to avoid dealing with life.
The grass rustled beside him, and he could sense his presence. A body warmth lingering through the chill of the night.
"I gave you my umbrella for a reason, and still, you sit here in the rain."
He opened his eyes once again, hesitantly turning his gaze towards the man beside him. There was a gentle smile tugging at his lips, the one that sparks a feeling of comfort. He gripped a black umbrella in his hand, holding over the two of them. It seemed considerably cheaper than the one he had been gifted.
"Yeonjun thinks I've be murdered, doesn't he?" He already knew the answer at Taehyun's chuckle
"He just wants to know you're safe, like any good friend would." Taehyun replied, slowly edging closer to Beomgyu. He used his free hand to reach forward, softly laying his hand on the mans thigh. "I'm glad you answered my text."
Beomgyu placed his hand over Taehyun's instinctively, nothing felt more natural. "How did you know I was here?"
"I had a gut feeling."
A gust of wind swept through Taehyun's blonde locks, disorganizing his perfectly parted hair. Beomgyu almost liked him more like this.
A little messy.
He leaned towards Taehyun, ruffling his soft blonde locks. "I know I should be at the gig, don't bothering lecturing me."
Taehyun shook his head. "I wasn't going to. My first priority was making sure you're safe, and here we are. If you know you should be there, there's nothing I can say. It's up to you if you want to go."
The approach was almost too kind. He didn't deserve it, when he was letting down his band. The guilt was there, currently outweighed by the selfish freeing of his emotions, that held him in tight shackles. This was the way he coped.
When things get tough- Run away. Hide. Distract.
"Do you want to tell me why you aren't there?"
"I'm tired, really fucking tired Taehyun. I'm fed up of feeling hopeless." Beomgyu spoke lowly, almost as a whisper. He was so desperately trying to hold in his tears.
He felt Taehyun squeeze his thigh. "You're not hopeless Gyu. Things will get better, trust me."
"I can't trust you, I won't let myself. I believed you'd never leave me, and you did, your words mean nothing now."
He could see the immediate affect on Taehyun, he dropped his head in shame. A pang of guilt struck his heart. It was the truth, but he hated seeing Taehyun like this.
A sniffle was heard from the blonde.
"Taehyun?" Beomgyu gently cupped Taehyun face, lifting his head, so their eyes could meet. He could now see the tear trickling down Taehyun's skin. The man didn't cry very often. "Why are you crying?"
Taehyun chocked back a sob, leaning into Beomgyu's touch. "I wanted to make something of my life, and I knew it could push you away, but I always planned on coming back to you. I really hoped you wouldn't get angry, or upset...fuck- I never wanted to lose you."
He really tried not to think about that night, because of how painful it was for him. Though, seeing Taehyun here like this. It was the first time he ever thought about how Taehyun felt.
"I wouldn't have come back if I didn't have to. I knew the minute I saw you again I'd crumble. You are everything to me."
Beomgyu's eyes became glassy, as tears threatened to fall. He squinted his eyes closed, the only thing he could think of to stop himself from crying. Dropping his head forward, he let it rest against Taehyun's, their breath dancing over each others skin. The sound of rain disappeared, as he focused on the sound of their beating hearts.
"I love you so much."
"I love you too."
Beomgyu brought their lips together. A slight salty flavor flooding his taste buds, a result of Taehyun's crying. The umbrella came crashing to the ground, as Taehyun threw both arms around Beomgyu's neck deepening the kiss. The rain came down heavy, soaking Taehyun's dry clothes, and re-soaking Beomgyu's half-dry ones. They didn't care, still focusing on each other. After a few breath taking minutes, they split apart, and just stared. Their eyes scanning the man opposite, they both began to wonder, where they would go from here.
