"I've been looking for you darling."
That voice.
That so uncomfortably familiar voice.
That vile, disgusting, and disgraceful voice.
It doesn't only bring sound, but also, ungodly touches, and the traumatic memories of a childhood ripped away.
Youngmi despised that voice, but there was no escape.
"Please leave me alone, I have an assignment to wor-" Youngmi's breath hitches, feeling a trail of kisses along her shoulder. Each one sends a painful shiver through her body, creating that convulsive feeling of wanting to throw up.
"Don't be difficult baby girl."
Just as always, she relaxes herself, in hopes that he'll find some mercy. The more she resists, the more bruises scatter her skin. She didn't know when she accepted this as her life, but truthfully, she didn't have much more energy to fight.
Her eyes close, as his fingers tighten around her waist, rising her up from her chair. She's pressed against her desk, feeling lips attached to her neck. This was her normal, eleven years of suffering, eleven years of fear, eleven years of hiding. The person who was meant to bring her mother a new sense of happiness, the person who was meant to be her new father, was the very person to snatch away any ounce of purity she had.
She felt used, and she felt broken.
As his fingers moved further down, Youngmi couldn't control herself. She was tired of this, it had to end. "Stop!" She shouted, pushing the man back.
He looked shocked, angry even. "I thought we've been over this. You have to be a good girl for me Youngmi."
"No, I'm done with being compliant. I don't belong to you, you can't just do whatever you like to me." She felt the adrenaline coursing through her veins, giving her the strength to protect herself.
To protect that eight year old girl, who couldn't.
"You're mine, until I say you're not. The only way this ends, is if you find yourself a respectable husband." He said, walking closer to Youngmi. She felt his warm breath fan over her face, as he brushed a few strands of hair behind her ear. "But who would want someone as disgusting as you? You should be lucky that a man like me will even look at you."
Youngmi smacked his hand away, pushing him back again. "I have a boyfriend, and he's from one of the wealthiest families in South Korea. He has status, wealth, and charm, you couldn't find anyone more respectable."
"I don't belie-"
"I don't need you to." Youngmi harshly cut him off. "I'll bring him for dinner tomorrow night; you can see for yourself. Now if you'll excuse me, I have an assignment to work on."

A single tear rolled down her pale skin, quickly wiped away by the woman. She hated thinking about the past, and she hated thinking about that man. Years had past; she had found her liberation, however she still wasn't free. Instead, she was living a lie, parading around for all these people to see. This wasn't what she wanted, and she knew she wasn't the only one.
At the sound of the door, Youngmi turned her head, watching Taehyun slowly walk into the room. He made his way over to the bed, taking a seat beside the woman.
"Have you been crying?" He asked, noticing the woman's glassy eyes.
"A little." Youngmi muttered. "I was thinking back to when we first got together."
"How come?"
"Well look at us now Tae, look at what we're doing. Neither of us is ever going to be truly happy."
Taehyun let out a deep breath, heart dropping at her words. He knew it was true, that's why it was so hard to accept. "I don't regret helping you, and I never will."
"I know, but you've literally spent four years protecting me from the very people you're now going to work with. They may not be my step father, but they are exactly the same in my eyes."
"I'm sorry."
He couldn't say anything else.
"I don't want sorry Tae, I want to go back to the US. I want to be away from people like that..." Her voice became weaker, as tears slipped from her eyes. "You promised me two weeks, that was it. Not this Tae, I can't do this."
She was right, yet again. It hurt Taehyun to his core, seeing what this decision was doing to Youngmi. She deserved better, he knew that, but it had come to a point, where he couldn't give her that anymore.
"What do you want to do then?"
"I don't know." Youngmi muttered. "What can I do? Is calling off the engagement even an option? I'll have no where to go."
"Don't worry about things like that, I'll sort everything for you. Just think about what you want." Taehyun responded gently, placing his hand over Youngmi's. He stroked her delicate skin, not only to sooth her, but himself. This was difficult for them both, and after four years, they relied on nothing but each other, to get through times like this. "Do you want to stay here? I'll say you're ill or something."
"No, it's alright. I'll take a few more minutes, and then I'll be back down."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I'm sure."
Taehyun nodded, taking one last glance at Youngmi, before getting up. He left the room, feeling a sense of uncertainty. His father would probably fire him if they ended the engagement, then what would he do? He just quit his other position. His father was bagging on Taehyun bringing hope to the company, for once, he had a chance to make him proud.
Though, that would never out weigh what Youngmi means to him. If being with Youngmi was causing her more pain, than happiness, he couldn't keep her living that way.
