Chapter 36: Tae?

“P-papa?” I walked in as my fears came true once again. Shaking furiously as I saw my beloved dad, my strongest hero now lying down with his pale and weakened body as if a mere blow of wind was enough to crumble him down to sand. Mom sitting in the same room on the couch with tired droopy eyes, my heart couldn't believe that a single night can change your beloved one so much without even a moment to register what just happened. My dad slowly looked up, all the wires supporting him as he weakly smiled towards me. A little sparkle rushing through his eyes at the sight of his little girl, the once he adores the most and would fight the world for.

“Papa!” I cried out before rushing to him and engulfing him in a tight hug, letting out my tears because of all the fears crawling under my skin. No matter what the relationship of my father and mother was, no matter how toxic it was still somehow at the end my father was the best dad in the whole world. He adored me, held me tight through the night when I had those terrible nightmares, kissed my worries away, protected me from everything possible and on top of all that he worked hard day and night to build me a secure independent future.

“My penguin” he softly touched my hair, the touch enough to bring me back to the present where nothing else mattered but my father's precious smile. The little nickname enough to crack my heart harder than before, I remember how when I just had started walking I always used to rush to my father despite of all the toys laying around.

A classic daddy's girl you can say but it was way more than that, my dad found my small steps to be as cute as a little penguin and since then he started calling me penguin no matter what occasion it was whether it's in the crowd or even during my graduation. When the whole world talked about various comical superheros I used to mention my father as my strongest superhero, always blessed to have a father who'll have my back no matter what happens and who'll fight the whole world in a heartbeat just for me.

I looked up to his very familiar facial features as he smiled at me whole heartedly while ignoring the mere existence of my mother who sat thier emotional at the little interaction between her beloved daughter and husband who doesn't even care about her in his last moments. “Papa the doctors said we can still have the treatment so don't worry everything will be okay, trust your penguin yeah?” I grabbed his hand carefully tight as he softly nodded, he knew his time was close. It's a life cycle after all, there will be one day we all must leave but he was truly satisfied and proud deep inside because he knew that he raised up a very capable daughter and taught her, all the mistakes he did before hand and the consequences of it so she doesn't ruin her life in ways he did.

“Mom why didn't you call me?! I'm his daughter dammit! You still care about your dumbass media in a situation like this” I raised my voice towards my mom not caring about her position or the situation since my heart was still preoccupied with the fear that I could have lost my father. “I was about too and it isn't even too serious so calm down, your father has been in this situation multiple times so you should know better Jeon Y/n” Mom replied with her stern tone un-bothered while I stared at her not believing the fact that she isn't even serious in a situation like this. “Don't pay attention to her” my father groaned before pulling me closer than before and passing a disgusted glare towards mom, pissed at her for not informing me.

“Who's the young man behind?” my mother questioned with curious eyes, my dad's heart eyes converted into possessive deadly glares towards Jungkook who stood thier silently behind us with an expressionless face since it must be awkward not knowing what do in a situation like that. “Maa he's Jeon Jungkook-” but before I could continue dad stepped in as usual because if it's a boy talk then it comes under the father department “You already married him?!” he gasped dramatically as I roll my eyes in disbelief that even in a situation like this he's still the same old drama queen and on top of that he still manages to thread out these weird stories.
