When Wangji and Wuxian woke the following morning, they were in a bigger room. The room had a big screen up front and the two were on a comfortable seat that could be a couch or a makeshift bed. On the left side, it was much more roomy but they could see a shimmering effect as it looked to be a barrier. Wangji and Wuxian could see and hear the people on the other side. Lan Qiren, Xichen, Jingyi, Sizhui, Jin Ling, Ouyang Zizhen, Nie Huaisang, Jiang Cheng, and Wen Ning and a bunch of other people from the sects.
There was a barrier to the left that had all the people who betrayed him or others. Jin Guangshan, Jin Guangyao, Su She, Xue Yang, Wen Ruohan, Wen Xu, Wen Chao, and Wang Lingjiao. Wuxian questioned why if all people, they had to return.
Soon enough though, Qiren, Xichen, Jingyi, Sizhui, Zizhen, Huaisang, Jin Ling and Wen Ning popped in the area where Wuxian and Wangji were. They were the most trust worthy of the people. Then Wuxian saw some people he knew to be dead, Jiang Fengmian and Madam Yu, who were on the other side of the barrier hugging Jiang Cheng. Where Wuxian was, Nie Mingjue, Jiang Yanli, Jin Zixuan, Wen Qing, and Wuxian's parents appeared. Wangji's parents even appeared out of thin air.
While Wangji and Xichen were busy hugging their parents, Wuxian was sitting there on his cozy seat trying to decide on what to do. There were people in front of him that should be dead...they died because of him. Baoshan appeared beside him and pulled him into a hug.
"It's going to be okay," She informed Wuxian, "these are people who will not judge you."
"You sure? I killed most of them...and one of them...old goatee over there, can't stand me being with Lan Zhan," Wei Ying told her in response.
"What did you just call me?" Lan Qiren spat.
"You heard me," Wuxian answered folding his arms to his chest and stuck his nose up in the air, "old goatee."
"Wei Wuxian! Don't push it!" Lan Qiren scolded, "I tolerate you enough for the sake of Wangji."
"Like you tolerate me at all on the inside," Wuxian argued, "you probably wish me dead like a majority of the people to the left and the right of the room. Even I wish my own death. So don't tell me a lie saying you tolerate me. Lying is forbidden in your sect after all. So why don't you follow your rules for once and tell me how you really feel!"
Xichen and Wangji pulled out of their parent's hug and turned to their uncle arguing with Wuxian. Wangji did not like hearing his husband say he wished he was dead. He went over to him and pulled him to his lap.
"Alright, you want the truth," Lan Qiren spat, "I wish you never met Wangji! Because of you his reputation has been tarnished. He has ruined his who future because of you. You ungrateful, selfish, brat! You should have stayed dead! That Mo Bastard brought you back for what? To prove you did nothing? You still tarnished the lives of millions of people and you ruined many families-"
"Shufu!" Wangji yelled interrupting him as Wuxian started to sob into his chest, "that is enough! Out of everyone, Wei Ying has tried to get on your good side. You just hate him because you couldn't get laid by his mother!"
"Lan Wangji! You watch your tone!" Lan Qiren scolded.
"No! You insulted my husband when he is already having talks of suicide. You are really pushing it right now. If you were not my uncle, I would have pierced your throat with Bichen by now!" He yelled back.
"I think we should all calm down," Xichen said trying to calm them both.
"Lan Zhan, just let me go, please?" Wei Ying begged.
Those three words...Let me go...had stuck to Wangji's brain since that day in Nightless City. Wangji now started to cry, "I will not let you go, ever!" He sobbed, "don't listen to them. You are mine, and you are my husband who I love very much."
Baoshan put Lan Qiren back with the people behind the right barrier. She was furious as she just heard the man say her grandson that he basically wishes he was dead. That was too much, even for her. She was hurt by his words, and did not like seeing her grandson and his husband in this much pain. The cultivation world had hurt these two boys way too much. It was time that they new just how much. Baoshan was going to do what she could to help these boys get a happy life they deserve.
