Wei Ying was wandering the streets of Yiling, looking through vender's booths and shops. His pouch only had so much money left and he had to spend it sparingly. Wei Ying had not taken care of his mental or physical health at all, now that he is pregnant, how could he possibly get his health back enough for the little ones inside him.
As he passed by different booths, he stopped by one that struck his eye. He spotted one of those little toy rattle drums. A memory of his came to mind. It was of when he was on the streets as a young child, playing with straw dolls that resembled him and his parents. A young boy wearing white robes and a forehead ribbon on his head, was like an angel. It was a beautiful young boy, and Wei Ying was mesmerized by him.
Wei Ying was taken by surprise when the young boy in white robes handed him a rattle drum in his hand. Wei Ying was about to thank the boy but when he looked up from the rattle drum, the boy was gone. He never forgot that moment as he was finally noticed by someone as he was alone on the streets.
...
"I remember when I found out that was you," Wei Ying said happily to Lan Zhan, "it is a memory that I still cherish to this day...it's the day we actually first met...though we didn't share our names but I'm still happy about it...I still have that rattle drum too."
"Mine too," Lan Zhan said happily.
Wei Ying snuggled close to him and continued to watch.
...
Wei Ying sighed and continued on down the streets of Yiling. The different smells within the streets were messing with his head and his stomach. Smelling something sweet and his mouth waters, something savory his mouth feels dry, but a sour smell that ran through his nose, it caused a nauseating feeling in his stomach. Wei Ying had the urge to vomit. He carefully jogged out of the town and into the woods nearby.
As soon as he was out of sight of the town, he threw up. It was nothing but the water he drank that day. He knows that carrying a child he has to eat, but he has been making sure everyone else eats before him back at the mounds. Wen Qing won't let him do that anymore either.
"Wei Ying?" A familiar warm and angelic baritone of a voice called out to him. At first he thought is was just the resentful energy messing with his head, why would he be there with him? Until he said his name again, "Wei Ying?"
Wei Ying stood up with one his hand on his stomach and the other wiping his mouth before leaning against a tree he stood by, "Lan Zhan?" He asked looking at the beautiful, stoic twin Jade standing before him, "what are you doing here?"
"Night hunting, passing by," Lan Zhan answered, "are you alright?"
"Ugh, that's a big question that I don't know how to answer," Wei Ying said, "though it's private here, can we go somewhere more private to talk?"
Lan Zhan nodded, "where is your sword?"
"No core, remember," Wei Ying answered.
Lan Zhan pulled him close as he and Wei Ying hopped on Bichen, "is the burial mounds private enough?" He asked.
"Ye-yeah," Wei Ying answered, "I hope Wen Qing understands that I didn't get what I needed."
"I can get it for you, what is it?" Lan Zhan asked.
"Since supplies are limited, a person in the mounds is baring a child and is in need of supplements but I don't have enough," Wei Ying explained.
"Oh, I can get it for you," Lan Zhan said landing just outside of Yiling, "I'll be right back."
"Okay," Wei Ying said and waited.
