Thinking back on everything, he had always thought that Jiang Cheng would be on his side, and Lan Wangji on the side opposite to him. He could never have imagined that things would turn out so differently.

Wei Wuxian walked toward the rendezvous point that he and Lan Wangji were supposed to meet at. Nobody walked among the sparse lights that flickered in the night. Without having to look around, the white-robed figure stood at the end of the street, standing motionless with his head hung low. Before Wei Wuxian made any sound, Lan Wangji looked up and saw him. After some hesitation, he walked over with a darkened expression.

Wei Wuxian didn't know why, but he involuntarily took a step backward. He could almost see scarlet streaks of blood by the corners of Lan Wangji's eyes. He had to admit... Lan Wangji's face really did look quite scary.

However, having taken only one step back, his ankle twisted, and he seemed as if he almost collapsed on the ground. With a change in expression, Lan Wangji hurried over and tightly gripped his wrist like what he did last time, back in Dafan Mountain. After Wei Wuxian had been steadied, Lan Wangji knelt down on one knee to examine his leg.

Wei Wuxian was rather shocked, "N-n-no, Hanguang Jun. You don't have to do this."

Lan Wangji raised his head slightly, the pair of light-colored eyes boring into him, then looked down again and continued to roll up the leg of his trousers. Still under his grip, Wei Wuxian could do nothing except to look up at the sky.

His entire leg was covered with the black bruise of the Curse Mark.

After staring at it for a while, Lan Wangji spoke in a bitter voice, "... I only left for a few hours."

Wei Wuxian shrugged, "A few hours is a long time. Anything could have happened. There, there. Straighten up."

...

"Lan Wangji, you are talking to Wei Wuxian, anything can happen within a few hours. For him, only takes maybe five minutes," Wen Qing stated.

"Hey!" Wei Wuxian wanted to protest.

"Oh, don't argue, look at the state you are in now," Wen Qing pointed out, "no wonder why people say you are always in some sort of trouble."

"I'm actually going to object to that a little. I don't go looking for trouble, trouble happens to just find me," Wei Wuxian pointed out.

"Ain't that the truth," Jiang Cheng mumbled.

"Let's not forget half the time I was making sure you weren't in any trouble and it always came for me," Wei Wuxian said, "remember when you chased me away by threatening me with dogs as a kid? I broke my leg because of that."

"That was why you got hurt?" Jiang Fengmian asked.

"You promised not to tell the real reason," Jiang Cheng spat.

"Well, you have been an ass to me, so why should I keep any more promises from you or hide anything?" Wei Wuxian asked, "huh? Tell me? Why should I keep them?"

"Because you are a better person then I am," Juan Cheng said, "you have always been known to keep promises."

"Not all of them," Wei Wuxian said, "I'm guessing that is way you are still upset with me. I broke my promise to help you like my father helped yours. I couldn't keep it, I was useless to keep it."

"I don't care about the promise anymore, I am angry that you never said anything to me! You never told me what you were going through. What made you think it was okay to just go through those hardships on your own? You didn't even tell Shijie! You had plenty of opportunities to say something, and yet you let it all stay silent!" Jiang Cheng yelled.
