Before the story started back up, Baoshan only left the criminals now, behind a barrier to the right side. She wanted to see how people would behave. Wei Ying and Lan Zhan had also agreed to try it out. So she opened the left barrier. So far, it has been alright.

Wei Wuxian sat by a riverside, his face rested on a palm. He absentmindedly poked a large branch into the water, making swirling motions that attracted a pair of koi fish.
"Wei-Xiong!" A call from Nie Huaisang broke him out of his daze. The two koi fish that had appeared were no longer there, already rushing away.
Wei Wuxian turned his head around and sent a small smile to the couple approaching. Lan Wangji silently stood a few metres behind, seemingly out of sight from the teen and his two friends, while quietly observing them.

"What's this?" Cangse asked with a smirk, "The husband is watching his wife interacting with two men? I can smell the vinegar from here!"
Lan Zhan's ears turned bright red from his Mother-in-Law's teasing.
"A-Niang, don't tease him too much, his ears might burn off," Wei Ying told her.
"He blushes with his ears?" She cooed, "how did you find such an adorable husband A'Ying?"
"Ugh, you just saw where we met, this is just the start of our relationship," Wei Ying answered, "plus on Lan Zhan's side, I'm sure there was a lot of persuasion from Lan Xichen. I've noticed he helped out or stepped in a few times."
"Just need to give Wangji a slight nudge forward," Xichen responded, "happy to help. You two are made for each other."
"Xichen-Ge!" Wei Ying whined, "you're embarrassing me."
"As your older Brother-in-law, it is my job," he teased.
Wei Ying looked at Lan Zhan, "how do you put up with that all the time?"
"I just do," Lan Zhan answered with a shrug. Wei Ying just let it go and laid his head back down in Lan Zhan's lap.

Wei Wuxian saw a glimpse of white and he smiled, flashing his two bunny teeth at the other, "Wangji-Xiong!" He called, waving the branch in the air.
Lan Wangji expressionlessly turned around and began to walk away, deciding not to acknowledge Wei Wuxian.

"Oh," one disciple said.
"Maybe he's shy?" Said another disciple.
"That makes sense," said a third.
"Or maybe he just hates Wei Wuxian." Jiang Cheng interjected.
Wen Ruohan laughed, "Youngsters these days are too scared to talk to the girl or boy they're smitten with. In my early years, I was a handsome lad and every girl flocked to me like rats to a block of cheese! Ahaha!"
"Rats?" A couple girls interjected together.

Wei Wuxian chuckled, now facing Jiang Cheng and Nie Huaisang, "He ignored me." He stuck his tongue out and made a teasing sound.
Jiang Cheng rolled his eyes and placed both hands to his hips, "What did you expect? Remember what you said in class last time? You're impossible!" He turned around to face the direction in which Lan Wangji had just left, "He's probably just like Lan Qiren, who thinks you're evil and bad to the guts."
