There was a large cedarwood forest on the Xinglu Ridge, with a wide trail amid the shade of the trees. After a while of walking, they didn't meet anything out of the usual. Regardless, in the beginning, they didn't hold high hopes anyway, and only came here just in case. But, if the charlatan was unsure of the names and details of the victims, it was most likely a case of exaggerated hearsay.

"Lan Zhan, remember when you asked me if I wanted to talk about the whole dog thing?" Wei Wuxian asked.

"Mmm," he hummed.

"If I tell you, you won't...you won't make fun of me right?"

Lan Wangji stopped walking and looked at Wei Wuxian dead in the eyes, "I would never make fun of you, especially if it is because of a fear you have. I don't care what fear it is. I will not make fun of you...It is forbidden in my sect as it is."

"Ugh..right," Wei Wuxian said.

"You want to tell me?" He asked.

"It's something that I have always had a hard time talking about. People call me the Yiling Patriarch and make me sound ever-so invincible. I just turn into a coward when I come across a dog...when I was still young, before Jiang Fengmian brought me home, I grew up on the streets. I often had to fight for food with vicious dogs. After several bites and being chased so many times, no matter the dog, I just get extremely scared...

"...Jiang Cheng laughed at me and taunted me all the time because of it. There was one time I remember being so scared that I almost died of a panic attack," Wei Wuxian explained, "so I'm sorry about what happened earlier."

"Do not apologize to me for being scared," Lan Wangji told him, "you were traumatized as a kid and it's something that you live with. I am accepting that, as it is apart of who you are."

...

"Lan Wangji is husband material right away," a female disciple said that was from the Jin clan.

"And he is my husband material," Wei Wuxian claimed holding onto him tight.

"No one will take me from you," Lan Wangji assured him, "plus you are still recovering from being stabbed, I won't just let you be."

"Good," Wei Wuxian said acting like a child, "because you're mine."

"And you are mine," Lan Wangji told him.

...

"Lan Zhan, why do you have such a change of heart towards me?" Wei Wuxian asked, "I remember you hated me back then."

Lan Wangji looked down at the ground for a moment before looking back up at him, "I am just not that easy of a person to get along with. I was too mended to my sect's rules and didn't want to sway from them. After meeting you, yes you annoyed me, but after a while I felt a sense of warmth and comfort when ever I am around you. I actually fell for it the moment I laid my eyes on you, but I didn't understand my heart at the time...

"...I really understood it when you were missing for those three months back then. When I told you how I felt the night the twins were conceived, it still remains...even more so now, but I am willing to let it stay deep down for your sake...I don't know how you feel for me."

"Lan Zhan, I've always had an interest in you," Wei Wuxian told him, "I just didn't realize that kind of interest until we parted ways after looking for the Yin Metal. I just didn't want you to get mixed up with the mess I got myself in."

"Wei Ying, we have each other again, now," Lan Wangji told him now standing a few inches apart and their faces were just as close.

Wei Wuxian looked into Lan Wangji's liquid pools of golden eyes and felt himself being drawn in. He and Lan Wangji had a bumpy past, and Wei Wuxian has guilt sitting deep inside him. That guilt, he hopes, will go away with time, but he wanted to be with Lan Wangji now that he has this second chance. The two were basically telling each other that right at the moment. They wouldn't have had Sizhui and Jingyi if they didn't have feelings for each other.

"Are you sure you want to get mixed up with me?" Wei Wuxian asked, "I carry so many sins on my shoulders that I don't even know if they will ever be forgiven."

"This sins, may not even be yours," Lan Wangji told him, "over the past sixteen years, my brother and I have found more clues, and that you were most likely framed, we heard a flute playing a couple years back and you were still gone at the time. So it couldn't have been you."

"Even if it wasn't me, who would listen or believe me?" Wei Wuxian asked.

"My brother and I would," He answered, "and that is a start."

"I guess so," Wei Wuxian said, "evidence would be more proof then hearsay."

"Which is why we have to keep looking into it," Lan Wangji told him, "I want to clear your name Wei Ying. Even if you were still gone, I was still trying to find clues as to what really happened. And the hundred holes curse, you didn't do it. You don't have the backlash from the curse, so it is obvious someone set it up perfectly."

"I still don't quite know what happened that day, most of it is still a blur," Wei Wuxian admitted.

"I did manage to speak with Wen Ning for a moment, he said he heard a second flute," Lan Wangji told him.

"A second flute?" Wei Wuxian questioned, "I wasn't hearing things? At Nightless City, I heard it there too."

"I know, you never did lose control that night, someone just altered your Chenqing's orders," Lan Wangji told him.

"Speaking of, what ever happened to Chenqing and Suibian?" Wei Wuxian asked.

"Jiang Wanyin has Chenqing, and Suibian, I heard was in Lanling with Jin Guangyao," Lan Wangji answered.

"Why would Jin Guangyao have my sword?" Wei Wuxian asked, "and how could Jiang Cheng even be carrying Chenqing? It lashes out  on anyone that isn't me who trying to come into contact with her. How is he able to hold it?"

"It lashes out?" Lan Wangji asked, "I saw him carrying it, and it didn't lash out once."

'Is it because of the core? Lan Zhan doesn't know I gave it up to Jiang Cheng, he only believes I got it crushed,' Wei Wuxian thought.

"Maybe it found a new owner after I died?" Wei Wuxian questioned.

"I don't think that is it," Lan Wangji said, "a weapon of spiritual tool is still connected to its own even in death unless it is passed down before they died. So that isn't wha-"

Wei Wuxian didn't want to continue this topic of a conversation. So he did what he thought might be the best solution. Grab the beautiful twin Jade's face and kiss him.

...

"That's one way to end a conversation," Wen Qing stated.

"Hey, it worked," Wei Wuxian said, "and I got a kiss out of it."

"You cut me off, which is a rule broken," Lan Wangji told him.

"I wasn't part of your sect at the time, or was I even inside Cloud Recesses for it to count," Wei Wuxian argued, "you liked this kiss anyway, you kissed me back, even more so."

"That I did," He said, "that I did."
