The Jingshi, (Silence Room)...the name really spoke for the place. Inside, it was all too quiet. The twins were sleeping peacefully, Lan Xichen was asleep on his personal bed that was brought over for him, and then, there is Lan Wangji. He was laying there on his stomach on the bed, staring at the caught next to him. The twins lay there asleep, side by side, only separated by a mere blanket.
It was way past nine at night. Normally, Lan Wangji would be asleep by now, but he just couldn't. His heart was broken, torn into four separate pieces.
The first piece goes out to his uncle, Lan Qiren. The person who raised him and his brother, who he looked up to once, who he once thought of more as a father figure than an uncle, was merely just a stranger to him right now. His uncle looked as if he didn't want the whipping to follow through, but he still punished him. Lan Wangji hated most of the principles of Gusu, he stuck by them for so long, became an ice cold hearted man, just like his uncle wanted... but the price Wangji paid, his happiness, the chance for him to do or discover things diminished because of his lack of freedom from the rules. He followed them... until he met someone he truly loved.
That was the second piece of his heart. That piece latched itself onto Wei Ying's heart and died with him the day he fell from that cliff. That piece of his heart, it burned the most in his chest. The pain of that broken heart piece, to him, felt good, it was a way for him to remember Wei Ying.
The third piece of his heart goes out to his brother, Lan Xichen. While he kneeled to take the whips, Xichen couldn't move, couldn't do anything...he could only stand by and watch it happen. Xichen was now taking care of him, and he felt like he doesn't deserve his brother's care. He betrayed his sect for Wei Ying, why would Xichen still help him? Why wasn't he upset with him?
The fourth and final piece of Wangji's heart, are for his sons. His heart pained because they were not going to see Wei Ying. The twins will grow up without Wei Ying. They were two innocent little infants, and they too, had to suffer because of the cultivation world's hatred for the twins Baba (Wei Ying).
Wangji couldn't lay there on his stomach anymore, so he quietly and slowly turned to sit up. He had survived a week of the whip's pain. He laid around for a week, and couldn't do nothing.
After a few minutes, Lan Wangji carefully stood up after putting his boots on and a robe, before stepping outside. He managed to leave unheard. Lan Wangji made his way out of the gate of Cloud Recesses, past the barrier, and limped to Caiyi town. Walking through the market, the smell of something sweet tickled Wangji's nose. Turning towards the direction, a vendor, who was still open this late at night, was selling Emperor's Smile.
"Young Master, do you want some?"
Wangji nodded.
Handing him two bottles of it and paid for it...far more then the asking price. He told the vendor to keep it all before walking back up the mountains. He stopped when He spotted the Wall of GusuLan Principles. He took a large swig of the wine and knelt down beside the wall. He leaned on it only to pass out ten seconds after drinking it.
...
"Knew that was coming," Wei Ying mumbled.
"What, do you just count until I pass out?" Lan Zhan asked.
"Yes, as a matter of fact, I do," Wei Ying answered before turning back to the screen.
...
Wangji woke after about two minutes from passing out. Wangji stood and stared at the Wall of Rules. Now drunk, something that was not expected for Lan Wangji to do, just so happened...he had the urge to...rebel. Wobbling as he stood, he opened his robes and pulled down his trousers, only to literally started to pee on the wall.
