There came a number of ordinary days, when everyone lived in peace with one another. The Burial Mounds, heading fifty-or-so of the Wen Sect's cultivators, Wei Wuxian planted vegetables, repaired houses, refined corpses, and made new tools. Aside from how the world's comments on Wei Wuxian worsened even more, there was no progress.
Cultivational sects often had secret tasks that they didn't want others to know about. And so, Wei Wuxian didn't push for an answer either, "I finally met someone I knew from before, one who didn't try to avoid me as well. It's been so stuffy for the past couple of days. Did anything big happen outside?"
Lan Wangji, "What would count as something big?"
Wei Wuxian, "Like if a new sects appeared somewhere, if a sect expanded its residence, if any sects formed alliances with one another, and so on. Chatting, you know? Anything is fine."
He hadn't heard of news from the outside after he and Jiang Cheng fell out. The most he heard was from the random conversations in the town.
Lan Wangji, "An arranged marriage."
Wei Wuxian, "Which sects?"
Lan Wangji, "The Lanling Jin Sect and the Yunmeng Jiang Sect."
He was stunned, "My shi-... Maiden Jiang and Jin ZiXuan?"
Lan Wangji nodded softly. Wei Wuxian inquired, "When will it be? When's the ceremony?!"
Lan Wangji, "In seven days."
Hand shaking lightly, Wei WuXian put the cup of water to his lips, but he didn't realize that he finished it already. He felt a bit empty inside, not knowing whether it was anger, shock, displeasure, or helplessness.
...
"I'm sorry, A'Xian," Yanli said to him.
"It's okay," Wei Ying said, "I was preoccupied anyway."
...
"How are you feeling? The babies?" Lan Zhan asked.
"I am feeling okay," Wei Ying said, "thank you for your help."
"It's what I should do, not only do I love you, but you are my partner and carrying my children," Lan Wangji told him.
"I won't be able to come out of the mounds soon, I'm starting to grow a bit more," Wei Ying told him.
"I will visit you... remember to use the talisman to call me when you are ready to have them. I want to be with you," Lan Zhan said.
"I will," Wei Ying said, drinking some of his water.
...
"So I have to ask, Jingyi and I, we are not adopted but biological sons of yours?" Sizhui asked.
"Because of all the hate I was getting, I couldn't let people know that I was your Baba. I also didn't want people to think of you both as Wens as they had a bad history. We wanted you to be safe... we are sorry we kept it from you for so long," Wei Ying explained.
Jingyi and Sizhui sat beside them, "we aren't mad, we are actually biological brothers."
"Twins, actually," Lan Zhan corrected.
"So you are our biological parents?" Jingyi asked.
Lan Zhan and Wei Ying nodded, "yes."
"So they are actually legally to be announced as Lan sect heirs," Lan Xichen said, "even if they were adopted they'd carry that title, but now they carry that even more so."
