It was the following day since Lan Zhan and Wei Ying had their late night rendezvous. Lan Zhan had left first to meet with his brother before a banquet meeting and the Jin Clan's Glamour Hall. Wei Ying promised to be there for Jiang Cheng but he had no desire to attend. Though since his late night with Lan Zhan, he felt a little less incomplete.

The two finally know their feelings for each other, but Wei Ying worried about it. He didn't want to ruin Lan Zhan's reputation. He was such a pure and righteous cultivator, and he was a demonic cultivator. The two of them are not meant to co-exist... but they did... just that once last night.

Wei Ying bathed after Lan Zhan had left. He still finds himself scrubbing dirt and grime from his nails that were of the burial mounds. He wondered if he would ever be free from it.

Side by side, Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji strolled along the endless waves of Sparks Amidst Snow.

With a twist of his wrist, Lan Xichen swept over one of the snow-colored flowers, its petals in full bloom. The motion was so gentle that not even a dewdrop fell.

He spoke, "Wangji, is there something on your mind? Why have you been so tense?"

Of course, in most people's eyes, the 'tenseness' probably looked no different than Lan Wangji's other expressions.

Lan Wangji's brows sunk low as he shook his head. A few moments later, he replied in a low voice, "Brother, I want to take someone back to the Cloud Recesses."

Lan Xichen was surprised, "Take someone back to the Cloud Recesses?"

Lan Wangji nodded, his expression pensive. After a pause, he continued, "Take him back... and hide him somewhere."

Lan Xichen's eyes immediately widened.

Ever since their mother passed away, this brother of his had gradually become more and more withdrawn. Apart from going on night-hunts, he'd shut himself in his room all day long, reading, meditating, practicing calligraphy, playing his guqin, and improving his cultivation. He never talked much to anyone except for him, his elder brother. Yet, this was the first time that such words found their way outside of his lips.

Lan Xichen, "Hide him somewhere?"

Lan Wangji frowned softly. He began again, "But he is not willing."

Suddenly, the noise of chatter came from before them. Someone spat, "Is this a road that someone like you can walk on? Who let you roam around!"

A young voice replied, "I'm sorry, I..."

...

"You know, I've got a list for people I want to wake from the dead just to kill again," Jiang Cheng said, "Su She is one of them."

"A'Cheng! Watch your words," Jiang Fengmian told him.

"Would you say that if you knew what he has done?" Lan Xichen asked defending Jiang Cheng.

"Like what?"

"Oh like, frame my husband for crimes he didn't commit, driving him insane to the point of jumping off a cliff to end his life," Lan Zhan explained in a sarcastic tone.

"You sound so strange with such a tone in your voice," Wei Ying pointed out.

"I don't care!"

"By the way, still want to hide me away?" Wei Ying asked.
