Chapter 9

"We should go downstairs now.." said Levi as he put on his uniform jacket. I nodded as I adjusted the mask on my face and walked out of the door.

When we arrived downstairs I was pulled aside by Petra.

"Petra? You okay?" I asked her

She nodded, "okay listen, I need to tell you something but promise not to tell anyone."

I nodded.

"Well.. I have a crush on the captain, since you room with him can you try to set us up?" She asked

I was speechless. "She likes him? Oh no- she's not going to be too happy when Levi comes down in a second.." I thought to myself.

"Uhm- sure?" I said trying to make the pain and jealousy in my voice not obvious. I don't know why I'm jealous, it's not like I'm dating the captain so why do I care?

I walked away from Petra towards the kitchen when Levi came down the stairs. I followed him into the kitchen with Petra behind me dreading what was going to happen next.

We all sat down at the table, me next to Levi and Petra across the table from us.

"Um.. what is that?" She said out of nowhere pointing to the captains neck.

"Why's it any of your business?" He asked her

"I just wanna know, who gave you that hickey captain."

"It's none of your business."

"Ash can we talk outside for a second?" Asked Petra.

I nodded, stood up from my chair and followed her out. My mind was racing "does she know I gave him that hickey? What if she hates me because of it?"

We arrived at the doors to the castle and stepped outside.

"Do you know who gave him that?" She asked

"No, I don't." I said trying to sound convincing.

"Okay well tell me if you find out, i want to give them a piece of my mind! I love him and they have no right to do that!"

"Don't you think you're overreacting?"

"Hm.. I guess.. it's not like im his girlfriend so I can't really get mad over than kind of stuff.. But do you think the captains seeing anyone?"

"Im not sure, he might be."

"Alright, tell me if you find out who gave him that, or if you find out he's dating someone."

"Uh yeah.. will do."

With that Petra left, I followed her back into the castle and sat back down at the table.

"What did she want to talk about?" Levi whispered to me.

"Nothing." I whispered back.

He simply nodded and went back to whatever he was doing. I sighed and started eating my dinner making sure to keep my scar hidden with half of my mask.

It was training time, this time on odm gear. We were learning to do group maneuvers which were going pretty well.

"Okay, practice basic invasive maneuvers now! Ash you come with me!" Shouted the captain as he zipped off into the trees.

I looked at Petra who was giving me a thumbs up, I hope she's not implying what I think she is... if she's hoping I set them up I don't even know what I'd do.

I wasn't sure what he wanted but I followed him anyway. I saw that he had landed on the floor near a tree, so I landed next to him.

"Ash, we have another expedition soon." He said as he turned to me.
