Chapter 19

I was sat in that room for ages, unable to tell what time of day it was or how long I had been sat there.

The sound of the door unlocking and people walking in cut through the silence. They walked up to me and began unshackling me without saying a word.

I could tell they were about to tie me up with rope, so before they could do anything I swiftly took my blindfold off kicking one of the guards in the head sending him onto the floor.

I grabbed the knife from his hand, and charged at the other guards stabbing him in the face. I pulled the knife from his face and undid my gag dropping it onto the floor.

I grabbed another knife from the second guard making sure to kill the one I kicked on the way out.

I sped through the hallways looking for either Levi, Petra or a way out of this hellhole. I killed women and men alike, anything to escape.

Blood splattered onto my face and body as I struck another one down, I wiped it from around my eyes and continued on.

I tackled a man to the floor plunging a knife into his chest, then retracting it. I stood up and got off of him, I heard someone from behind me. I turned around so see a guard charging at me.

I returned the favor by charging at him and leaving a quick slice along their throat. Blood spewed out of it and onto me as the fresh body fell to the floor. Once again wiping the blood from my face I heard someone.

"Ash?"

I turned my head to see Levi stood there, 2 swords in hand looking a little shook.

"Levi!" I shouted running towards him, stumbling due to injuries on my leg that I had to endure.

I hugged him tightly as did he, not letting go.

"You've got so much blood on you, what did they do to you?!" He said letting go of the hug and grabbing me by the shoulders.

"Most of the blood isn't mine." I said with a smile.

"If you turn into a psycho after this, I will lock you in a basement myself."

"You would neverrr."

"I would, now let's leave." He said grabbing my hand and dragging me down the hallways. As we were running I remembered what that man had said.

"Levi, someone was talking to me earlier before he tortured me. He said something like 'everyone close to Levi will die, like Isabel and Farlan.' Who are they?"

Levi stopped dead in his tracks and turned to me.

"How does he know about them?" He said sternly.

"He said he was in the underground with you. Now answer my question."

Levi sighed and said, "you remember what I said to you about losing close friends to a titan?"

I thought back a little to when we were in the trees and nodded.

"That's them.." he said turning away from me, grabbing my hand and continuing to run down the hallways.

At some point I tripped and fell to the floor, I looked behind me to see a body I had killed earlier.

"Levi I've already been here, are you sure you know where you're going?" I asked him.

"No but how do you know you've been here? All the hallways look the same." He said coming to help me up.

"I've killed.. a lot of these people." I said still looking at the body.

"Oh."

I sighed and turned to face him, "let's just keep going." I said. He nodded, grabbed my hand once more and continued running.

We turned a corner and saw people running towards us with guns. We turned and began running away, during that shots were fired at us.

Most missed but one hit me in the leg. I fell and hit the floor

"Ash!" Levi shouted turning around, but it was too late. I was grabbed my them.

I was once more grabbed by my hair and held up like that, someone tied me up with rope and gagged me. "Is the gag really necessary?" I thought to myself as I felt something cold press against my neck.

"Let him go." Levi said.

"Why would I do that? You know Levi, this is some guy you have here.. he killed 15 of my men with a dull, rusty knife. And 10 more just now."

"Good you fuckers deserved it, now give him back."

"I don't think that's gonna happen." Said the man pressing the cold thing further into my throat causing a warm liquid to trickle down it.

I then was made to look at levi. He looked... looked... well, I'm not sure. I'd never seen that expression on his face before.

Levi also seemed to keep glancing at something behind me. I was questioning what it was as the ropes around me me were cut.

I immediately got myself free from the man's grip and grabbed the knife that had been pressed against my throat moments earlier.

I held it up in a defensive position and started backing away from him. I looked to who had cut my ropes to see Petra on her odm gear, she quickly sped towards me, grabbed me and flew towards where Levi was.

She put me down on the floor before turning towards the men and pulling her swords. I took out the gag and held up the knife.

The guards charged at us, Levi took many of them out within a minute, Petra doing the same while I just watched in awe.

Eventually, all were dead except the man who had a knife pressed against me moments earlier. He looked surprised but what did he expect? He went after humanity's strongest and his squad, this was bound to happen from the best fighters in the scouts.

Levi walked towards him slowly, the man began to run stumbling with every step and eventually falling on his ass, then shuffling backwards. He didn't make it far though as he found himself backed into a corner.

He turned around and looked at Levi,
"Please Levi, I'm sorry! Don't kill me!" He pleaded, "remember all the good times? Please don't do this!"

Levi paused for a moment looking at him, the man smiled slyly thinking he convinced him until Levi raised his sword up above his head.

"I'm sorry old friend." He said before bringing his sword down hitting the man clean in the head.

The still warm body slumped over and fell onto its side. Levi retracted his sword and stared at the body for a moment, before turning around and walking towards me and Petra.

"Let's go." He said grabbing my hand and dragging me behind him.

Levi seemed distant as we walked, I stared at him trying to figure out what was wrong, lost in thought maybe? He and that man knew each other so I don't blame him if he's upset about it.

"Ash?" Said Petra

I turned to look at her, "hm?"

"That.. scar."

I totally forgot I didn't have my mask on, I immediately tried to cover it with my free hand out of instinct, to which Levi reached over and took the hand away.

"No, no don't try to cover it up!" She said, "is that the reason you always wear a mask..?"

I slowly nodded.

"Well I think the scars pretty, there's no need to feel ashamed of it." She said

I gave her a sad smile and thanked her, I didn't believe a word of what she said but it's the thought that counts right?

Out of nowhere Levi grabbed me, wrapping his arms around me and started running. I was about to question it when we smashed and jumped out of a window, Petra following behind us.

I screamed but then remembered Levi had odm gear, so we were fine. My face went a shade of crimson as I buried my head in his shoulder out of embarrassment.
