Chapter 31

(A/N: sorry for uploads taking longer, I've decided to double the length of each chapter from 1000 to 2000 words since I decided they were too short)

As I submerged in the water, I opened my eyes letting my eyes adjust. In front of me, I saw Levi sinking down in the water, someone on top of him preventing him from going up for air.

I could see his eyelids growing heavy as all the oxygen exited his bloodstream, his thrashing movements becoming weaker.

He looked towards me desperately as the last few bubbles floated up from his mouth, his eyes slowly shut and his movements stop.

I swap towards him quickly pushing the person on top of him away and grabbing Levi's wrist. I dragged him up to the surface as fast as I could.

When I surfaced I immediately made sure Levi's head was above the water. I shook him slightly before he opened his eyes again coughing up water from his lungs.

I began dragging him out of the water and to the river bank as he continued his coughing fit. I lifted him out of the water followed by me climbing out after him.

He sat up as his coughing calmed down and his breathing evened out. I hugged him tightly not thinking about anything other than him in that moment. He hugged me back tightly gripping onto my shirt.

"Thank god your okay.." I mumbled into his shoulder holding onto him tighter.

"Who landed on me?" He asked me.

"I'm not sure.." I mumbled lifting my head from his shoulder, "I didn't get a chance to look before I pushed them off you."

He slowly nodded continuing to hug me. When we eventually let go of each other, we walked towards where we had left our stuff.

I picked up Levi's cape wrapping it around him to ensure he wasn't cold, then my own wrapping it around myself. I then sat down leaning against a tree with a deep breath.

Levi sat down next to me resting his head on my shoulder as people began getting out of the river to dry off.

A few hours had passed when everyone was dry enough to put on their gear and boots. The sun was almost set, the surroundings only being illuminated by torches a few people had lit and were currently holding.

As I strapped my odm gear to myself, I heard something in the bushes, something big. I turned my head and looked into the bushes, was it a wild animal?

A few moments passed before a titan emerged from the bushes right in front of me. I was frozen on the spot for a few moments.

"How could this thing get in?! The trees are too packed together for it to fit! Surely there isn't a weak spot in them? No wait.. we never took into account the small ones!" I thought to myself before regaining my composer.

"5 meter spotted!" I shouted before running away from the thing due to my gear not being on properly.

Before I could get a safe distance away, the thing grabbed me. I struggled in its hand as it dragged me towards it, my feet dragged along the floor as it pulled me.

I struggled against it, I felt it squeeze me a little bit causing my arm agonizing pain before it lifted me up into its mouth, it's putrid breath filled the air around me as it was about to bite down.

"Ash!" I heard Levi shout.

Suddenly, it's nape was sliced. It dropped me falling on top of me, I pushed it off me as it began to decay and crawled out from under it.

I stood up and looked towards who had killed it, I was expecting Levi but was surprised when it was Mason.

I thanked him quickly before being tackled in a hug by Levi. I patted his back reassuringly before he let go of me and started strapping my gear to me.
