Chapter 16

As I washed up the teacups in the sink, I felt a presence behind me. I was about to turn around when I felt arms snake around my waist and someone press against my back.

When I turned my head and saw that it was Levi, I smiled to myself and went back to washing up.

I heard something outside the window, I looked but there was nothing there, was i hearing things? I then footsteps nearing the kitchen and the door opening. Almost immediately Levi let go of me and walked to the table, sitting down.

I turned around to see the commander had walked into the kitchen, "I thought the commander was only visiting why does he keep showing up? Is he staying here or something?" I thought to myself as I continued to wash the cups up.

Suddenly I saw something outside the window from the corner of my eye. I turned my head and once again there was nothing there. I rubbed my eyes and blinked a few times before looking again, I don't know what I was expecting but there still wasn't anything there.

I shrugged it off then turned around and saw Levi and Erwin talking to each other. I walked past them and into the courtyard.

Once again I saw something in the corner of me eye, I turned and there was nothing there. The wind then picked up sending leaves flying past me. I kept seeing things rush past me in the corner of my eye, each time I turned in the direction I saw it and saw nothing.

I then saw the silhouette of what looked like a person zoom past a tree. "A person? Am I seeing things? They look like they had odm gear but they had no uniform.." I thought to myself as I turned and walked back inside.

I walked back up to my room and flopped down on the bed. I listened to the howling of the wind outside and just lied there.

I kept seeing things in my window, every time I looked nothing was there so I just glanced at it instead. I heard Levi walk into the room and sit next to me on the bed.

I continued glancing at the window every time I saw something, I guess Levi noticed because he asked,

"Why do you keep looking at the window?"

"I don't know I keep seeing shadows pass by it, or just what looks like something looking through the window, but whenever I look nothings there."

"I've been seeing that too in the past week actually. It's probably just birds flying past the window."

"You think so?"

"Mhm."

"Thats good but I was outside earlier and I saw what looked like a person with odm gear, except they weren't in a military uniform.."

"Thats weird, your sure it was a person?"

"Well not completely sure, I only saw it for a second."

"Maybe you're just seeing things, or one of the soldier are practicing out of uniform." He said laying down ontop of me

"I guess so, it wouldn't make sense otherwise." I said wrapping my arms around his waist.

Night quickly approached. I was downstairs in the kitchen when I saw a figure move outside the window, except this time I was looking directly at it.

I stood up from the table and made my way outside. It was still windy so the sound of leaves rustling still filled the air.

Between the rustling, I could hear what sounded like footsteps all around me. It was hard to pinpoint one set of footsteps, there had to be atleast 15 different sets. The rustling clashed with all the other sounds making it impossible to hear anything else.

The sounds of footsteps came and went all around me, I saw dark figures between the trees. I assumed it was animals so I turned to leave not wanting to he mauled by a bear or wolf.

When I did so, all the footsteps stopped and the wind died down reducing the rustling to virtually nothing.

I paused about to turn around when I suddenly heard the footsteps again coming closer to me. I began to sprint back to the castle. I could hear the footsteps close behind me sprinting to catch up with me.

I turned my head to see.. people. All dressed fully in black with odm rigs attached to them, weapons in hand, chasing after me at full speed.

I quickly approached the castle and made a break for the door. I felt one of the people suddenly grab my wrist roughly and drag me to them.

I whipped around and gave a sharp punch to the nose causing them to let go before another grabbed my other wrist.

I headbutt the other person and pried their hand off me before running towards the castle again.

One of the people used odm gear to get in front of me about to grab me before I jumped kicking them in the face and continued running.

I ran through the castle doors and began sprinting to the kitchen where i assumed Levi was. I didn't hear the footsteps behind me anymore but I didn't stop running.

I burst into the kitchen where thankfully only Levi and Petra were and ran full speed to Levi. I tackled him into a hug almost knocking him off of the chair and held on for dear life.

"Ash?! What's wrong? Your shaking!"

"There are people outside. They tried to kidnap me!" I said in a shaky voice.

"What?!"

I sat up and showed him the already forming bruise on my wrist and he wasted no time making his way outside grabbing a sword as he went along with me and Petra.

When we arrived outside, nobody was there. I walked down the path I had ran to get back to the castle looking for any trace of them. I pointed at a muddy part of the floor where there multiple sets of footprints.

"They were chasing me." I said as I clenched the sword in my hand.

"Ill inform Erwin of this tomorrow, right now we need to go to bed." Said Levi as he grabbed my hand and started dragging me back to the castle.

"If those people come back Ash we will protect the hell out of you!" Said Petra on our way back.

I smiled sadly and nodded,

"what do you think they wanted you for?" Asked Levi, "what possible reason would they have to kidnap you?"

"Im not sure." I said

"What were they wearing?" Asked Petra

"They were all in black and had odm rigs as well as swords."

"How would they get an odm rig?" Asked Petra

"Who knows.." said Levi, "they might have stolen them, or have inside people in the military to supply them."

When we arrived back at the castle, we made our way up to our rooms after making sure to lock everything up. I waved goodbye to Petra as she walked down the hallway to her room, and me and Levi into ours.

We got changed and climbed into bed together. I laid close to Levi with my arms around him. I was on edge whenever I heard any kind of sound.

"Go to sleep, I wont let them kidnap you." Said Levi

I nodded and nuzzled into him eventually drifting into an uneasy sleep.
