As soon as the snow had melted and spring rolled around, expeditions into wall Maria were no longer canceled.

I sat on my horse awaiting the signal for us to leave. For this expedition we were located in the right wing spotters so we would encounter a lot of titans, which I wasn't exactly thrilled about.

Soon enough, the order to go was given. With a click of the reins my horse advanced forward as did everyone around me.

All that could be heard were hundreds of galloping hooves, the flapping of capes and the commanders speech that he was shouting at the top of his lungs.

Our goal for this mission was just to kill as many titans as possible, it seemed easy enough but I was just hoping it wouldn't be on flat ground with a titan being the only thing for us to hook onto.

Once we were clear of the city ruins outside the gate, we deployed the formation. More or less immediately after, we saw titans.

I set off a smoke signal as Levi lept off his horse to kill them. I watched as he struck three of them down without a problem and landed back on his horse.

The next few hours went by the same, titans would appear and quickly be dealt with. All of a sudden a titan rushed past us.

"It's an abnormal! Petra, Ash get it!" Levi shouted as he set off a smoke signal.

I nodded and leapt off my horse, hooking onto the titans shoulder. Petra hooked onto the titans lower back and looked at me for some kind of plan.

I signaled to her to cut the titans knees, she nodded and I watched as she sliced the backs of both the titans knees sending it tumbling to the ground.

I landed on the back of its head, slicing deeply through its nape. Petra got on her horse and went to regroup with the rest of the squad.

I pulled down my mask and put two fingers in my mouth making a whistle to call for my horse. I put my mask back up and waited for a moment as my horse galloped towards me.

Once it got close, I mounted it and went in the direction the rest of the squad went. Soon enough, I rejoined with them.

I noticed that the outer ranks started to drift into the center a few hours later. I assumed it was because we were taking a break somewhere, my suspicions were proven correct as we neared the ruins of a village.

People were already posted on the roofs on lookout duty as we came closer. Once inside, we tied our horses down and walked to the old village square.

I sat down on an old bench exhausted as the adrenaline from earlier had worn off. As I looked around at the abandoned houses, I decided why not explore?

I stood up off the bench and started walking towards one. I pushed open the old wooden door and stepped inside cautiously.

A smell which I could only describe as the smell of death rushed towards me, invading my nose. I gagged quietly before stepping in further. The house seemed somewhat normal, a quaint family home.

Once I had stepped into the sitting room, I knew why it smelt so bad. A rotting corpse of a man sat with it's back against the wall, I slowly walked towards it.

Maggots wiggled around the body, eaten the flesh, fragments of bone sticking out from where the skin and muscle had completely been eaten away. It's stomach had been split open, the rotting organs spilled across the floor, all the bodily juices seeping into the floor.

Suddenly, a rat crawled out from behind the body, I jumped slightly and stood back up. I ventured further into the house and went upstairs, on the staircase laid another corpse.
