Chapter 25

I loaded cannons around the base of the tree, as I was doing so I looked up and accidentally made eye contact with them.

I smiled awkwardly before looking back down and continuing, when I finally finished I sighed and stood up straight stretching my arms out in-front of me.

"Hey, I brought you a water. You look like you could use it."

I turned around to see it was the same guy I had smiled at earlier, he was slightly shorter than me with brown hair and glasses. I took it and thanked him taking a long sip from it.

"Thanks, I'm Ash what about you?"

"Mason."

"Oh cool, what squad are you from?"

"Erwin squad, you?"

"Levi squad."

"Oh, that means your the super strong kind of soldier?"

"Yeah I guess you could say that, and by the fact that your in Erwin's I don't think your bad yourself."

"Eh I'm decent." He said, "So your luring the titans tomorrow?"

"Yeah?"

"That sounds dangerous."

I nodded saying, "it is."

"And your not scared? What if the titan grabs you."

"If that happens Captain Levi will kill it. I have nothing to worry about when he's nearby." I said confidently.

"So you must have a lot of trust in the Captain then?"

I nodded as I took another sip of water. I looked up to see Levi talking with the commander a good distance away.

"I wonder what they're talking about." I thought to myself as I moved onto the next canon still talking to Mason as I loaded it.

As time went by, we really bonded. This is the first friend I have outside of the squad. The long day of readying the traps and killing occasional titans that wandered over, the sun began to set past the horizon.

It was time for the last meal of the day, so when the order was given everyone finished up what they were doing and made our way towards the benches below the trees.

Since titans can only move at night and the sun was setting we can all finally lower our guard. I walked with Mason, chatting with him on the way.

When we arrived I saw Levi stood to the side by himself, when he saw me he began walking towards me, gradually moving quicker and quicker.

When he reached me, he wrapped his arms around my shoulder embracing me. I almost fell backwards he hit me with such force, I wrapped my arms around his waist and held him close to me.

"You okay? You've never ran at me like that before." I asked.

He just nodded and held onto me tightly, I heard Mason excuse himself and walk away. When he did so, his voice sounded pained.

"I haven't seen you all day." Levi mumbled.

"Oh so you missed me~?" I teased him to which he slapped me but not with enough force to leave a mark.

I smiled at him and kissed him lightly on the cheek. He let go of me and pried my arms open, then walked to where the food was.

I followed him there and we both got our food for that afternoon. We sat on a wooden bench together eating our rations.

When we finished our food, we scaled the tree to the branch the rest of Levi squad was on. Everyone was already there, and I saw that Hange hadn't stolen my hammock this time so I went to get on it.

I was in the middle of taking off my gear when Levi grabbed my arm, I turned around and looked at him confused.

"Sleep on mine again..." He mumbled not making eye contact with me.

I knew he didn't want to ask this in public since usually we shared a bed anyway and didn't have to ask. I smiled and nodded as I finished taking off my gear setting it down.

After taking my boots off I climbed onto the hammock, Levi was still taking his gear off so I sat there waiting for him.

After setting his gear down, he climbed onto the hammock carefully and laid at my side facing away from me.

I turned on my side wrapping my arms around his waist, spooning him. I felt him shuffle backwards into me as I placed my cape over the two of us. Soon enough I started falling asleep.

I woke up to someone looming above me, I looked up to see it was Mason. I was kinda freaked out as he started talking.

"Oh hi! I was waiting for you to wake up." He said.

"Oh- um. Well I'm awake now." I said pulling Levi away from the edge of the hammock which he had gotten closer to during the night.

I could tell Levi was awake by the way he was laid stiffly but I didn't say anything about it. Maybe he just didn't want to get up yet.

"So your dating the captain then?" He said

I sighed and nodded. This is the question literally everyone asks. Whys it so hard to believe the captain wants love too?

"Oh, cool.." He said.

Again I could hear the pain in his voice, what's up with him? I then felt Levi roll onto his back, he opened his eyes and looked at Mason.

"Piss off." He said sternly.

Honestly, I think Mason shat his pants because of the sheer speed he ran away. I sighed and laid down on top of Levi.

"You didn't need to be so harsh.." I mumbled into his shoulder.

"Why the fuck was he stood over us?" He asked.

"He's a bit weird." I joked
