"Able...For now let's just...focus on surviving okay?"

Able sighed quietly, crossing his arms.

"...Fine."

"Thank you."

The air was a bit tense after that.

And that was putting it lightly.

Able had never been the talkative type to begin with but now the two of you walked along in complete silence.

You quietly scanned the ground looking for traces of Hooves.

Animals knew where the water sources were after all.

"Y/n."

You felt your heart thud in your chest.

"Yes?"

"Don't you trust me?"

"Depends. Why do you ask that?"

You murmured in reply, careful not to let your voice give away your fear of this conversation.

"Don't you want to be with me?"

Your voice softened.

"Of course I do."

"Then...why don't you want to leave with me?"

"Able...I can't just run away from my problems."

You replied honestly.

"Problems? You mean the foundation?? Why not? If they cause all of them anyway why would you want to stay?? They treat us like tools."

"Us?"

You questioned.

Able went quiet.

"But...I was hired. I chose to take on these burdens... So the only one at fault is myself. You were the one that was forced. What do you mean 'Us'?"

Able tensed up.

Your brows creased further.

"And....a few days ago I was walking around- enjoying some of my new freedoms you know?"

He stepped closer to you.

"I overheard some of the researchers."

"What did they say?"

"I only heard bits and pieces of it. But I heard them call you-"

"What are you talking about?"

"They we're spewing this crap about 'Anomalous properties' among other things. I didn't get to hear the rest of it. Some of the cowardly foundation security started to take notice of me standing there."

The genuinely confused Expression you wore revealed the answer to Able.

You said nothing.
