Everyone was getting thrilled about the this entire ball thing... well except for Harry and Ron. Harry and Ron were sitting in the common room figuring out what they were going to do for the ball since it was getting closer. Of course, Ron tried to get Hermione to go with him earlier but it didn't exactly go as plan.

"Hey! You're a girl..." Ron told Hermione as she walked right into the common room.

"Oh-- well-- spotted--" Hermione shot at him.

"Well-- you can come with one of us!" Ron suggested to her.

"No, I can't." Hermione snapped at him.

"Oh come on! We need partners, especially you and Harry since you two are going to be opening the ball--"

"That's the thing! I'm already going with someone!" Hermione stated.

"No, you're not! We know you only said that to get rid of Neville," Ron complained.

"Oh did I? Just because it's taken you three years to notice, Ron, doesn't mean no one else has spotted I'm a girl!" Hermione growled at him before storming off to the girl's dormitories. Harry soon saw Parvati and Lavender come through the common room. Harry cleared his throat as he stood up.

"Hey! Parvati? Will you go to the ball with me?" Harry asked her.

"Sure," Parvati stated.

"Thanks! Lavender-- will you go with Ron?"

"She's going with Seamus?" Parvati explained.

"Do you know someone who'd go with Ron?"

"What about Hermione Granger?" Lavender asked.

"Didn't you hear, Lavender? Fred asked her to go and she said 'yes'." Parvati told Lavender. Ron jolted up from his seat.

"He what?" Ron asked.

"Yeah, he did it at Lunch a few days ago. Flat out asked her, "Hey, 'Mione, would you go with me to the ball?' and she just answered that she would love to." Parvati answered to them, "But as for your question earlier, I suppose my sister might go."

"Thanks a lot!" Harry told her.

The next few days was a nightmare for Harry and them. Everyone was getting ready to get to the Yule Ball. Ron was avoiding his brother, Fred, who was even more in a good mood. Only Hermione was the one that was done with all her homework and she was trying to figure out what she was going to wear to the ball.

As Hermione was working on her make up and hair, Winky came wobbling in with a large mysterious package, wrapped in a periwinkle wrapping paper and a big red bow right on top that had a small card attached.

"Oh! Winky let me help you with that package." Hermione said while standing up from her chair and took hold of the package, "Is this a gift for you?"

"No, ma'am. A gift for Miss Granger. Winky found it in the common room. Winky has no idea who it is from or what it is." Winky explained to Hermione. She asked Winky to stay behind her in case it was like her other mysterious gift. Carefully, she began to peel the wrapping off to find a white box underneath. Then she removed the lid and to her surprise it was a dress. Hermione pulled the red gown from the box as she gazed it up and down.

"Oh! It's might pretty, ma'am!" Winky stated to Hermione. She grinned as she began to slip from her robe and into the dress. Once she was as beautiful as she could be, she turned over to Winky.

"Alright, Winky, I want you to have as much fun down as I will." Hermione told her. Winky look nervous, "It's alright, Winky, you can hold my hand if you want?"

Winky and Hermione proceed downstairs where they met up with Fred. Just as she was telling Winky to wait inside for her, she spotted Harry and Parvati.

"Hey guys!" Hermione called out while taking Fred's arm in hers. Harry's eyes widened as Parvati was staring in utter disbelief. She even saw Pansy, the Slytherin brat who is always gawking at Malfoy, was gaping at her. Even Malfoy didn't have an insult to throw at her as she and Fred past to join the other champions. Ron just walked past the two of them as he went into the Great Hall with Padma.

Soon, once everyone was inside, McGonagall led them inside in pairs towards the table where the judges were sitting. Well almost. Percy was there instead of Mr. Crouch and he appeared with more smugness than Hermione ever seen on him. They sat at the table where they began to eat food. Winky was sitting right next to Hermione and even though most people weren't too thrilled about the sight of Winky being there (which included both Madame Maxime, Fleur and Percy), Dumbledore insisted that it was a great honor to have Winky amongst them.

Everyone was talking amongst themselves.

"I almost forgot to tell you, 'Mione, you look ravishing tonight," Fred told her between bites of his pork chops.

"Thank you, Fred. And thanks for asking me to the ball." Hermione stated to them.

"Well, I figured Ron wouldn't have the guts to ask you out. So I did what he should have done," Fred stated with a nervous grin, "Plus I was going to try and ask if you would like to have a cut in the business plan. We think with your brains--"

"Oh! Don't tell me you're still on about that?" Percy cut in, "you know how Mum feels about it! You should stop wasting your time on those silly inventions and focus more on trying to get into the Ministry like Mum wants you two to do."

"I think it wonderful that Fred and George have a dream job they want to do," Hermione stepped in, "But I must decline the offer, I want to try and get into the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures like my Great Grandma Rose was. I've been thinking of trying to get some of the laws she wanted to get pass--"

"And what laws would that be, Hermione?" Viktor asked, curious of their conversation.

"Well my Great Grandma wanted to pass more laws to help people, who have lycanthropy, be able to get jobs and to stop being mistreated by so many of their peers for something they have no control over--" Hermione was explaining when Percy snorted.

"You want to help werewolves after being kidnapped by Fenrir Greyback?" Percy asked her, taking a bit of his dinner. Fleur nearly chocked on her drink while Cedric and Viktor was looking at her like they couldn't believe their ears. Madame Maxime mumbled an 'Oh, my' as Karkaroff looked like he was about to have a near heart attack.

"Actually, he didn't kidnap me per say. He actually was actually here to ensure my safety for my Grandma Elka." Hermione stated to them, "But that's not important. There are still good people, who are misjudged all because of their condition such as Professor Lupin."

"The guy, who lied about being a werewolf and could have put people at risk due to this? If I'm not mistaken, you also almost got hurt by him--" Percy started again when Fred cut in.

"Excuse you, but I remember you saying that he was one of your favorite teachers and felt he connected more with students than the other teachers?" Fred stated. Percy was about to say something to Fred when Dumbledore cut in.

"I think Miss Granger has a big heart just as her Great Grandmother Rose did. She was a wonderful woman, who helped me create laws and got me throughout dark times as well. I believe Miss Nylund would be proud to hear that her granddaughter is going to finish out her work that she so wanted to have done herself." Dumbledore confirmed before lightly clapping his hands together, "Now I think it is time for our champions to have the first dance and begin the ball."
