Hermione's heart beat rapidly within her chest as she stared at Voldemort who kept looking right at them.
"Unicorn Blood has kept me alive, but it can't give me a body of my own." Voldemort told them, "But there is something that could... something that lies in Potter's pocket!"
Hermione found her will to run as she grabbed Harry's arm and they run up the stairs. However, before they could reach the exit, it was blocked by blazing red fire.
"Don't be a fool," snarled the face, "Join me, Harry and Hermione, and save yourselves, and embrace power you've only dreamed about."
Harry stepped in front of Hermione, making sure he was in between Quirrell and Voldemort so they couldn't get near her.
"We're not scared of you!" Harry shouted at him. Voldemort laughed.
"Bravery... your parents had it too... but it didn't stop me from killing them! Now give me the Stone!" Voldemort ordered.
"Never!" Harry shouted.
"KILL HIM! And make the girl watch and maybe I'll spare her if she pleads for her life!" Voldemort demanded Quirrell. Quirrell came flying at them. Harry pushed Hermione out of the way as Quirrell wrapped his hands around Harry's neck. Hermione didn't have a chance to fight when her head hit the stone stairs hard and she fell into darkness.
Harry woke up in the hospital wing. He pushed himself up into a sitting position, groaning in pain. He looked as he found a whole table of goodies. He tilted his head before he gasped, Hermione was sleeping in the next bed over, her head wrapped in bandages. He went to check on her when a voice spoke up."She'll be alright, Harry." It was Dumbledore, who was walking in, "Just a little bump on her head. She's merely sleeping."
Harry breathe. He was happy to hear she was alright but it was only for a minute when he remembered, "Sir the Stone..."
"Calm yourself. Quirrell does not have the Stone." Dumbledore said while walking to the able of goodies, "And I must ask you to relax or else Madam Pomfrey will have me thrown out. Ah! Tokens from your friends and admirers."
"You do know what happened down in the dungeons are between you, Hermione and Professor Quirrell... so naturally... the whole school knows. I believe Misters Fred and George Weasley had tried to send both you and Hermione a toilet seat, thinking it would amuse the two of you. But Madam Pomfrey thought it was not very hygienic and confiscated it."
"How long have I and Hermione been here?" Harry asked.
"Three days. Mister Ron Weasley will be most relieved to hear you have come around."
"But the Stone--"
"Quirrell did not mange to take it from you or Hermione. I arrived in time to prevent that but the two of you had it taken care of. I got word from Hagrid and McGonagall when Fluffy left the corridor. The Stone has been destroyed while you were sleeping," Dumbledore claimed.
"But Nicolas Flamel..."
"We had a chat and we agreed it would be for the best. They have enough Elixir stored to set their affairs in order but yes they will die." Dumbledore stated to Harry.
"Sir... is it possible that Voldemort will try another way of coming back?" Harry asked. Dumbledore sighed.
"I'm afraid, he is still out there. And he will try again." Dumbledore stated.
"Why couldn't Quirrell touch me?"
"Your mother died to save you. Love is a powerful thing, Harry. Your mother left a mark that is not a visible sign. It's in your skin which is why Quirrell, so full of hate and greed and sharing his soul with Voldemort, he couldn't touch you."
