It seemed hard to focus on D.A. assignment with the patronuses when everyone kept discussing how Bickerman had basically insulted Umbridge so badly that they thought Umbridge might not come out of her office for being completely embarrassed in front of everyone. Hermione waved her wand around as she watched her basilisk patronus went slithering around the air and swerved around her, catching nearly everyone's eyes.
However, the attention was short lived when a loud snapping noise echoed in the air to reveal a panic-stricken Dobby. Everyone turned their attention onto Dobby, who looked like he was about to have a heart attack.
"Dobby? What's the matter? What's going on?" Harry asked him. Dobby seemed to have a hard time finding his voice.
"She-- she's... she's coming!" He screamed. It didn't take a genius to figure out who 'she' was.
"EVERYONE RUN!" Harry screamed. Everyone scurried out of the room and down different corriders in attempt to escape from Umbridge and her goons.
Harry rushed down the corridors, trying to escape however, was caught by none other than Malfoy. He was soon dragged off towards Dumbledore's office by Umbridge. As they entered, he could see Fudge pacing in front of the fireplace with Kingsley and another wizard while Dumbledore sat behind his desk with McGongall standing behind him. Once they were in, Harry pulled away from Umbridge's grip.
"Well, well, well... Potter, I expect you know why you are here?" Fudge spoke as he stormed over to Harry.
"No." Harry lied though he had a good idea of what this was about.
"I beg your pardon?" Fudge said.
"No." Harry repeated.
"You don't know why you are here?"
"No, I don't."
Fudge shot a look in Umbridge's direction then return his glare onto Harry.
"So you have no idea why Professor Umbridge has brought you to this office? You are not aware that you have broken any school rules?"
"School rules? No." Harry lied.
"Or Ministry decrees?" Fudge spat, clearly starting to get angry with Harry.
"Not that I'm aware of."
"So it's news to you, is it, that an illegal student organization has been discovered within this school?" Fudge asked.
"There is? Really?" Harry asked, sarcastically.
"I think, Minister, we might make better progress if I fetch our informant." Umbridge said.
"Yes, yes, do. There's nothing like a good witness, is there, Dumbledore?" Fudge asked as he turned to face Dumbledore while Umbridge went to fetch the witness.
"Nothing at all, Cornelius." Dumbledore said. There was a moment of silence before Umbridge came waltzing back in with her hand gripping on Cho's friend Marietta, who was whimpering and clinging her hands against her face.
"Don't be scared, dear, don't be frightened." Umbridge said, "it's quite all right, now. You have done the right thing."
"Don't be she, my dear, lets hear what you've got to-- Merlin's beard!" Fudge screamed. Harry's eyes widened when he saw Marietta lower her hands to reveal her face covered in bleeding inch-deep scars that gust blood down; her entire forehead had the word 'SNEAK' carved into it like. Harry was horrified. He thought Hermione said it would be pimples instead of this.
"Never mind them, we'll tend to them later. Come on and tell the Minister--" Umbridge started when Marietta opened her mouth to reveal a flood of blood dripping from it and splatter all over her clothes and the floor in front of her.
"Oh! Forget about it! I'll tell him," Umbridge snapped, "She came to my office shortly after dinner this evening and told me about how on the seventh floor there was a room known as the Room of Requirement where they were meeting up at... but before I could question her any further... this happen and she would not speak any further."
"Is there a counterjinx for this?" Fudge asked pointing direction towards Marietta's face.
"We haven't found one yet, but it doesn't matter if she won't speak, I can take up the story from here. You remember, Minister, that I sent you a report back in October that Potter had met a number of fellow students in the Hog's Head in Hogsmeade--"
"And what is your evidence for that?" Professor McGonagall cut in.
"I have testimony from Willy Widdershins, Minerva, who happened to be in the bar at the time. He heard everything and hastened straight to me to report it."
"Oh, so that is why he wan't prosecuted for setting up all those regurgitating toilets!" McGonagall said while she shook her head, "what an interesting insight into our justice system!"
Soon Umbridge continued ranting on about how Harry's D.A. and what he was doing in it then Dumbledore proceeded to defend him by claiming how Harry hadn't technically proof to prove Harry was breaking the laws. Umbridge attempted to get Marietta to speak only for Marietta to spit another flood of blood from her lips. To Harry's horror, Umbridge soon enough pulled a list from her sleeve with the D.A. members' names on it. Then it really turned worst when Dumbledore took the blame and claim it was his plan all along. When Fudge soon was planning to arrest Dumbledore, Dumbledore made his escape.
While everyone began running around the castle, searching for Dumbledore, Harry stood stun to his stance as he began questioning of what happened to Marietta. Hermione couldn't possibly have had actually put that kind of jinx on the parchment. She told him and Ron that the jinx would put on horrible pimples, not... not those awful scars. But then... it was Hermione who had cursed the parchment... could she have lied so no one knew the real punishment of what would happen when the person would rat them out? It was possible, but that's not like Hermione... was it?
First the mysterious memory Snape saw of her and Barty at a motel and now this! Though he hated himself for thinking it, but Harry couldn't help but find himself asking....
Was Hermione secretly working for the dark side?
