They hurried over to a little shop a few feet from the bank. Hermione was about to enter the shop when Grandma stated how she was going to take her parents, who appeared like they were about to lose their heads, to the pub to get them something to drink.

"Don't go off anywhere till one of us gets you. Okay," Grandma Elka told her. Hermione nodded as she watched her Grandma walk her parents down the alley towards the Leaky Cauldron. Hermione turned and took a deep breath before entering the shop. She saw a woman in a squatting position, who shot Hermione a grin.

"Hogwarts, dear?" she asked before Hermione could speak, "got the lot here-- another young man being fitted up just now, in fact."

Hermione turned to see a boy with pale blond hair standing on a footstool while another witch was pinning up his long robes. Madam Malkin walked Hermione on a stool beside him before slipping a long robe on her and started to pin it to the correct length.

"Hello," the boy spoke, "Hogwarts too?"

"Yes," Hermione nervously said.

"My father's next door buying my books while my mother's looking at wands." The boy claimed, "I'm going to drag them off to look at racing brooms. I don't see why first years can't have their own but I'm going to bully father into getting me one and I'll smuggle it in somehow."

Hermione was disgusted by the way the boy talked. She knew if she did anything similar to what this boy was suggesting, she would have been spanked by her Grandma or one of her parents.

"Do you have your own racing broom?" he continued, clearly not picking up Hermione's lack of interest in his cocky behavior.

"No."

"Play Quidditch at all?"

"No," Hermione stated, wondering what the heck was this Quidditch anyway.

"I do! Father says it's a crime if I'm not picked to play for my House. I must say I agree. Know what House you'll be in?" The boy asked her.

Hermione merely shook her head.

"No one really does until they get there to be sorted. I know I'll be in Slytherin! All my family have been! Imagine being in Hufflepuff! I'll die from embarrassment, wouldn't you?"

"I'm not sure." Hermione merely said, wishing she could vanish from there. She told herself once she was done here, she was going to get as many books on this new world. She would learn about this world, so she didn't feel this stupid.

"I say! Look at that old lady?" the boy suddenly shouted, nodding towards the front window. Hermione turned to see her Grandma waving at her as she held two large ice creams, showing why she couldn't come in.

"That's my Grandma! Elka Ostrovsky! She's helping me get ready for Hogwarts." Hermione shot at him. The boy's face turned a bright shade of red.

"Oh," the boy mumbled, "I've think I've heard a name similar to that. But I can't say for certain. She even looks like I've seen her before."

Hermione's eyes widened as she turned to face the boy, an idea popped in to her head.

"Maybe. I think she works for a lady by the name of Betty White." Hermione stated. The moment the name slipped out of her mouth everyone seemed to freeze and became so silent that you could hear your very blood racing in your veins.

"Did you say... Betty White? As in the Betty White?" the boy asked. His eyes were so wide that she thought they may jump out.

"I'm not entirely sure, Grandma doesn't talk much about her life here, but she went to a Betty White's vault when we were getting money to buy my things to get something out of it. I think it was on the orders of Betty White." Hermione explained. The boy seemed like he was about to have a heart attack.

"Your Grandma is working for Betty White and she doesn't say anything about it! If I were her, I would be informing the whole world about it!" The boy stated.

"Why what's so special about Miss White?" Hermione asked.

"What's so special? WHAT'S SO SPECIAL? You can't be serious! It's Betty White! The most powerful witch of all the Wizarding World! She's just as powerful as Dumbledore! Maybe even more powerful considering she was one of the most brightest Slytherin that ever lived! She even helped Dumbledore create new inventions and spells! My Father and Mother brag how they were in the same year as Betty White!" The boy was almost about to fall off his stool. Thankfully, Madam Malkin informed Hermione that she was done. Hermione thanked her and paid as she quickly exited the store and to keep away from that boy as much as possible.
