"'Guess it's a family thing'? Seriously, Ron? You couldn't say something along the lines that it was brilliant of her to think up the whole coin thing?" Harry asked while they were getting ready for their first Quidditch match. Hermione wasn't speaking to Ron to the point she wasn't even acknowledging him. If Ron would try to talk with her, she would get Fred to talk for her. It only added pressure of the fact their team was being harassed by most of the Slytherins and no one (especially Snape) would do anything about it. However, they got cheered up when they found out the next morning the Slytherins that were making fun of them woke up not feeling the best and was suffering from unexplainable diseases. It turned out, Jordan was slipping some of Fred and George's treats to the other Slytherins.
But the happiness vanished when they learn Umbridge was up and about... and not at all in a good mood. She was firmer and more vicious than ever before. When you entered her classroom for class or her office for detention, she locked everyone in the room and office to ensure no one got in or out. They tried to overhear what she had to say, but according to rumors, Umbridge didn't know what happened to her nor did she know who had attacked her but she wasn't going to let them have a second go at them.
But Harry, Ron and Hermione knew who attacked her. They only wished they knew why.
"I didn't mean for it to come out like that. I swear... I don't even know why I said it. It was like... someone had control over me for a moment and made me," Ron said as he slowly put his gear on. Before Harry could say another word, their attentions drew to the flaps of their changing room opening as they saw Luna and Jordan walking in.
For a moment, Harry had to pause and take in what he was looking at. Luna was wearing a large hat in the shape of a lion's head while Jordan had a green and silver scaled heart on one of her cheeks for Slytherin and the other cheek had a gold and scarlet paw-print for Gryffindor. Then Jordan also had a large albino python slithering around her waist and up across her shoulders.
"Hey, Harry! Hi, Ron!" Jordan called out, lightly petting the snake's head, "sorry to barge in. I know we're not supposed to be here given I'm a Slytherin and Luna's a Ravenclaw, but we know you two are really close to Hermione, and we're wondering if you knew where Hermione is, because she's not in the stands yet and we were wanting to sit by her."
"Sorry, we're not actually talking at the moment. We've got in a fight sort of," Harry explained to them.
"Oh, well okay. We'll just go find Ginny and sit by her then. Good luck guys!" Luna claimed, motioning for Jordan to follow her out of the tent. As soon as they were gone, Ron leaned in towards Harry.
"I'm starting to think Jordan has every single weird pet imaginable." Ron mumbled to Harry while they were making their way to the field.
Harry was extremely thrilled when the quidditch match was over and they won. The entire time, the Slytherins were singing a horrible song called Weasley Our King that was insulting Ron. However, it wasn't over. Malfoy decided to throw a few insults at the Weasleys, which resulted in Harry and George throwing a few punches. There was a lot of screaming (mostly Malfoy), George swearing, a whistle blowing, the crowd bellowing out... and he could have sworn he could hear Jordan shouting 'kick him in the nuts!' as Ginny's voice agreeing with her. Harry didn't care at that moment. He just wanted to strangle every inch of Malfoy's life out of his body... until...
"IMPEDIMENTA!" Harry was thrown back against the ground, slamming hard. As he was getting up, Madam Hooch was storming towards them.
"What do you all think you're doing?" She shouted at them, "I've never seen behavior like it-- back up to the castle, both of you, and straight to your Head of House's office! Go! Now!"
Harry and George turned on their heels and headed up towards the castle, panting. They had barely gotten towards McGonagall's office when they found her storming towards them.
"In!" she ordered, furiously, pointing at her door. The two of them scurried into the office just as she was entering, tossing her scarf to the side, "I never! I have never seen such a disgraceful exhibition. Two onto one! Explain yourselves!"
"Malfoy provoked us." Harry answered.
"Provoked you?" McGonagall hissed as she slammed her fist against her desk, "he just lost the game! Of course he wanted to provoke you! But what on earth he can have said that justified what you two--"
"He insulted my parents.... and Harry's mother." George defended.
"But instead of leaving it to Madam Hooch to sort out, you two decided to give an exhibition of Muggle dueling, did you? Have you any idea what you've--" McGonagall started yelling at them again when she was cut short by a familiar 'hem, hem'. George and Harry wheeled around to find Umbridge walking through the doorway with her sickly, ominous grin.
"May I be of service, Professor McGonagall?" she asked in a poisonously sweet voice. Harry could see McGonagall's entire face turned a bright shade of red from the blood rushing into it.
"Help? What do you mean by 'help'?" she asked, sounding slightly offended.
"Why, I thought you might be grateful for a little extra authority."
"You thought wrong." McGonagall hissed at her before turning back to George and Harry, "Now, you two had better listen closely. I do not care what provocation Malfoy offed you, I do not care if he insulted every. single. one. of your family members you possess, your behavior was disgusting and i am giving each of you a week's worth of detention! Do not look at me like that, Potter, you deserve it! And if either of you ever--"
"Hem, hem."
The look in McGonagall's eyes made her seemed ready to throw down a few Unforgivable Curses at that moment of time.
"Yes?"
"I thin they deserve rather more than detentions."
"But unfortunately, it is what I think that counts, as they are in my House, Dolores."
"Well, actually, Minerva. I think you'll find that what I think does count. Now where is it?" she said while fumbled throughout her handbag, "Cornelius just sent it... I mean the Minister just sent it... ah yes..." she soon pulled out a piece of parchment, which she unrolled and proceeded to read, "hem, hem... 'Educational Decree Number Twenty-five..."
"Not another one!" McGonagall growled. Umbridge proceeded to explain that McGonagall had given Umbridge the idea because of how McGonagall had went to Dumbledore to make sure Gryffindor's team was allowed to play even though Umbridge hadn't allowed the team to reform.
"...so I contacted the Minister and he quite agreed I should be allowed the strip pupils of privileges, give them punishments and sanctions just like the other teachers. And you see now, don't you, Minerva, how right I was in attempting to stop the Gryffindor team reforming? Dreadful tempers... so, I really think I will have to ban these two from playing Quidditch ever again."
"Ban us... from playing... ever again?" Harry said.
"Yes, Mr. Potter. I think a lifelong ban ought to do the trick. You and Mr. Weasley here. And I think, to be safe, this young man's twin ought to be stopped too-- if his teammates had not restrained him, I feel sure he would have attacked young Mr. Malfoy as well. I will want their broomsticks confiscated, of course; I shall keep them safely in my office, to make sure there is no infringement of my ban. But I am not unreasonable, Professor McGonagall. The rest of the team can continue playing, I saw no signs of violence from any of them. Well... good afternoon to you." Umbridge said as she proceeded out of the room. She was a few steps at the door when she suddenly turned back around her heels.
"Oh! I almost forgot, Professor McGonagall, I have something for Miss Granger. If you could tell her to meet me in my office sometime this evening, that would be great." Umbridge said as she walked out of the room, leaving Harry wondering what did she want with Hermione.
