Hagrid escorted Hermione over towards McGonagall's room, careful to watch where they were going in hopes of avoid Umbridge and her horrible squads. Harry, Ron and Ginny made their ways back to Gryffindor tower even though they didn't want to leave Hermione, but Hagrid insisted that they make their way back to their dorms so they could avoid being in trouble. It wasn't long before they finally reached McGonagall's room. Hagrid roughly knocked against her door.
"Professor McGonagall, Professor McGonagall," Hagrid called out. Hermione could hear some shuffling from behind the door before it swung open to reveal McGonagall in her nightgown and robes.
"Hagrid what is--" She started until her gazed landed on Hermione, "Miss Granger, you're back! Come in! Come in!"
She opened the door to allow them to enter her room. Once they were in, she shut it then locked it before putting charms on it that Hermione knew would make sure no one could overhear what they were going to talk about.
"I want you to explain where have you been!" McGonagall told her, "We have been worried sick about you, Miss Granger!"
Hermione proceeded to tell McGonagall everything that happened to her while she was away and how she made her way back to Hogwarts. Once she was finished, she noticed all the color in McGonagall's face had been drained.
"Hydra and her wand? She-- she was... she was believed to be a myth. She was... she was real?" McGonagall mumbled while shaking her head.
"She was?" Hermione asked.
"Well-- there were people, who believed she was real, but... everyone believe she had been a made up person, who the Ancient One had been believed to work with." McGonagall admitted while shaking her head.
"Professor... I must ask... I need to follow this key." Hermione told her as she pulled out the key from her pocket and held it up so McGonagall could see it. McGonagall's eyes widened as she reached out and took the key in her own hand. She shook her head.
"That's what Albus wanted all along." McGonagall mumbled while rotating the key between her fingers.
"I'm sorry, Professor. What did Professor Dumbledore--" Hermione started until a knocking came echoing into her room. McGonagall stiffened as she slipped the key into her pocket of the robe. She pressed her finger against her lips before walking over towards the door. Hermione watched as McGonagall opened the door ajar.
"Yes, Head Mistress Umbridge?" McGonagall mumbled. Hermione was frozen to her seat as she was wondering what was going on.
"I heard that Miss Granger is back and was being escorted by Hagrid to your room." Umbridge shrilly voice echoed through the room.
"Indeed he did, but she has been sent to St. Mungo. She had horrible injuries and needed professional help to have them taken care of." McGonagall lied with a straightforward voice. Hermione could sense Umbridge was giving her a heated glare, clearly not buying the lie McGonagall was spewing. However, Umbridge didn't barged in.
"Alright, but I want to speak with Hermione when she returns." Umbridge told her. Hermione listened as Umbridge walked away. McGonagall soon closed the door before walking back towards Hermione.
"Hagrid, I need you to send an owl right away to St. Mungo's to alert Mr. Lancelot to inform him that we are going to need him to make up a story that Miss Granger was there." McGonagall ordered him. Hagrid nodded his head as he quickly wished Hermione good luck before bolting out the door. Hermione watched as McGonagall walked to the other side of the room and picked up what appeared like an old glove. She spun around and handed it to her.
"Miss Granger, I am sending you to Grimmauld so one of the Order members will join you as you take this journey. I am sure you have travelled with a Porkey correct?" She asked. Hermione nodded. McGonagall lightly patted her shoulders; she could almost see tears forming in her eyes.
"Please... be careful out there, Miss Granger." she pleaded with her. Hermione timidly smiled.
"I will Professor." Hermione assured her. Before another word could be shared with each other, Hermione felt the world around her spin around and she was gone.
