Hermione's heart stopped as her mind kept racing. It couldn't be... it can't be! She didn't write her name and put it the Goblet of Fire. She thought this tournament was pure madness... she can't be in this tournament... she just can't... Hermione could feel everyone's eyes were on her and she felt like she was about to have a panic attack.
"Hermione Granger!" Her thoughts were cut short when Dumbledore called her name again. Taking a deep breath, she pushed herself off her seat and slowly made her way to the front, keeping her head down. She soon made her way up towards the chamber as fast as she could, unable to bear the stares of everyone. Hermione walked down the hall tell she reached a large room where she found the other four. Fleur was asking Harry if he was there to send them. Harry turned his head as his eyes were wide with shock to see her there as well as himself. Just as she reached the bottom step, she could hear footsteps rushing over towards them.
"Extraordinary! Absolutely extraordinary! Five Champions! Unbelievable!" Bagman's voice echoed as he entered into the room, "I can't believe it! Their names actually came out of the Goblet of Fire!"
"Which has to be a mistake!" Hermione shouted, earning everyone's stares on her, "Because I did not put my name in the fire, and surely Harry didn't either. Can we get out of this?"
Bagman looked at her with a look of sorrow and a bit of fear.
"I'm sorry... but... when the Goblet of Fire... uh-- spits out your name... it means... you are um... what's the word... obliged to do it..." Bagman nervously finished telling them. Hermione didn't know what came over herself as she grabbed hold of Bagman's robes and started to violently shake him like a rag doll, screaming at the top of her lungs that she didn't want to compete and that this was insane since she did not put her name in the Goblet. It had to take Viktor, Cedric, Fleur, and Harry to pull her off him just as the door opened with a large group of people. Professor Dumbledore came in followed closely by Mr. Crouch, Professor Karkaroff, Madama Maxime, Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape, who had shut the door behind them.
"Three Hogwarts champions? I don't remember anyone telling me the host school is allowed three or have I not read the rules carefully enough?"
"What is the meaning of this, Dumbledore? Oh my! This one looks like she's about to faint! You, fetch this poor girl a chair and someone bring her a glass of water!" Madame Maxime ordered, though she was still upset with what was going on, she seem to still have a sense of kindness during this strange situation. Though Maxime had given the order to Cedric, Viktor was the one to grab her a chair and gentle sat her down in it.
"This is impossible! Hogwarts can't have three champions! It's most unjust!" Karkaroff stated to them, "I thought your Age Line was supposed to keep out younger students?"
"It's no one's fault, but Potter's and Granger's, Karkaroff. Don't go blaming Dumbeldore for these two's determination to break--" Snape started when Dumbledore cut him off with a firm glare before tuning towards the two of them.
"Did you two put your names into the Goblet of Fire, Harry and Hermione?" Dumbledore asked calmly.
"Absolutely not, sir." Hermione stated, tears still streaming down her cheeks.
"No, sir." Harry replied.
"Did you two ask any of the older students to put it into the Goblet of Fire for you?" Dumbledore asked... again... calmly.
"Of course not, sir." Harry and Hermione stated to them.
"They're probably lying!" Karkaroff spat.
"They couldn't have crossed the Age Line, we can all agree on that! And I know Miss Granger, for sure did not want to enter the tournament! I've seen her all day, leaning against her chair just reading her usual sets of books, unfazed at all by this tournament." Professor McGonagall defended Hermione.
