THE MONDAY BLUES,
The beginning of the first full week back,
———

I couldn't tell if it was the medication or how lost I had become in my obsession with the forest...but all weekend whenever I slept I had the same dream. I woke up in a sweat each time.

It was this surreal feeling attached to it. Almost traumatic, but not entirely.

I was so so tired, regardless of what the dream meant. I had considered that maybe the dream was actually a memory. Had I unlocked something with all the research I had put in? But it felt more conceptual than real life.

Multiple stags...actually no deer- which was odd. Glowing eyes and a voice that followed them. A man's voice. Though I could never see any men around.

When I moved in the dream it was like a spotlight was following me and my surroundings never entirely changed despite the fact that I ran. Outside of the spotlight was just darkness, as if the surroundings ceased to exist.

It looked like a forest, sure...but there was so little detail other than the area of trees directly in front of me. I know what a standard forest looks like and it's not as if I hadn't been questioning and theorising about one.

My mind was taunting me. It must have been but...

There was something in that feeling, when whatever it was arisen behind the stag. What spooked it to crash into me. It felt so real. The fear that always shook me out of sleep.

"Miss Webb? Pay attention." The Professor called for me to actively engage.

My eyes snapped towards him with a submissive nod.

Professor Slughorn didn't enjoy disengaged students and here I was head slumped into my hands and trapped in my own thoughts.

"What has been up with you?" Ramona hissed under her breath. Nudging me to open my textbook.

We were currently in potions and I was assigned catch up reading whilst the others were theorising the different ways to formulate Amortentia. Apparently there were six subtle ingredients and technique changes that still resulted in the same potion, different strengths though.

I always thought it sounded like a pathetic potion and although the affects never lasted for long, I never understood why it was so commonly encouraged to use or learn about.

"Tired." I simply replied. Rubbing my eyes and shaking my head slightly to re-enter the room consciously.

"You still never gave me an answer, earlier." Ramona whispered.

I shrugged and gave her a look of 'I'm not repeating myself' and carried on with my reading.

She was wondering why they had barely seen me on the weekend (apart from her seeing me in the dormitory). I told them the truth, that I had been reading in the library but it was met with laughter.
