THE PURE BLOOD CHRISTMAS PARTY, (Part two) At Malfoy Manor ———
Very quickly, and after I had soaked up as much as my surroundings that I possibly could, we found ourselves with a drink in hand.
The gold sparkly liquid in the tall skinny flutes, a little bitter, actually. A fancy champagne, seemingly too advanced for what my tastebuds were used to.
I thought about jokingly asking for a cloudy apple cider, but remembered Ramona's rule about fitting in.
With every small sip of the alcohol, I fought the urge to constrict my mouth muscles from the disgust...until, it started to taste somewhat okay. Thank god.
"So, you'll know some people here." Ramona said, her eyes beginning to scan around the room.
"Evan Rosier." She said with an 'ah!'-like sound to her voice.
I followed her dainty and subtle point, guided by her pinkie finger, singularly leaving the flute of her champagne glass.
Over near the bar area, Evan Rosier was stood tall and talking with Ramona's brother. Laughing about something, which I knew was probably boyish. Ramona had told me stories about how the older boys gathered and grouped together at these functions.
"Pandora Fontayne." Her eyes then darted towards the chaise-lounge towards the huge windows. As if she knew where they'd be.
Pandora sat delicately, in a pastel pink gown, on the edge of the long seat. Smiling at all of the couples dancing in front of her. Blissfully happy people watching, alone.
Ramona groaned before she spoke and I quickly followed as I followed her gaze and pinkie finger.
"Tweedle Dee and dumb." She rolled her eyes over to Valeria Greengrass and Octavia Abbott.
"How did I forget they'd be here?" I said, sending a scowl over in their direction, as if they were paying attention. They weren't.
Instead they were both fussing over each other's dresses. Making sure they looked perfect, after standing up from a seated position on the tables behind them.
"There's so many people here, hopefully they keep their distance." Ramona said. "Anyway, they'll be too busy trying to impress the boys."
I knew she was right, but there was still a bit of anxiety about them being here. A dread, knowing they could easily bring me into the spotlight as an outsider, though I'm sure it was noticeable without anyone mentioning it.
"Talking of..." Ramona said, her voice drifting. "He's probably around here somewhere."
My rolled eyes that were lingering in the two girls from school's direction, slowly moved over to Ramona. With a gaze that could only be described as finding her tiresome.
