!!TW!! Descriptions of CSA, Suicidal thoughts, Rape culture, Nightmare of Miyano's attack, Injury
Silence enveloped the room, no one said a word as Sabito took in the image of the boy; the victim. Senjuro stared with wide eyes, his small hands holding bandaged ones tightly and Giyuu offered his brother a seat.
Sabito couldn't do this.
Not with those dead violet eyes looking deep into him. He couldn't do this while he had to visually take in every hickey and mark, he knew the origins of. How could he, when he had just listened to the woman brag about it for hours?
"Usually, I would have to threaten him or pin him down before he would come around. But that didn't matter since he was such a people pleaser. His resistance never lasted long."
And he knew, Sabito knew that Genya could see him down to his core. Could see how Sabito knew everything about him. And it made him feel sick, twisted. How dare he know this child's most painful secrets before Genya could say anything.
"I started off wooing him small. Flirting, presents, those kinds of things right after me and Kyogo started dating and Shizu died. So...when he was thirteen or fourteen, I think? But we only got physical after I convinced him to. We made a deal."
Sabito didn't know how he was going to sit there and interrogate this boy about something that he couldn't stand to even hear. Hell, not even that long ago Sabito had seen the child faint from a panic attack induced by simply getting his gun back. How would the boy fair here?
He couldn't do this.
"The first time we ever got intimate? Oh! I will never forget it, he cried so much that he puked, and it was so fucking funny. He was almost fourteen, I think. I just made him go down on me since I kept a secret for him."
"Uh..." Sabito didn't know how to start this, if he could. He simply stood there with his clipboard in hand and sighed. Genya leaned further back into his bed, his eyes listlessly looking down at where his hands and Senjuro's met. "I'm here to ask a few questions."
The child nodded but the man could tell he hadn't really understood. Senjuro spared a glance between the two, standing back so he could leave the room to give them privacy. Finally, the older brother spoke.
"I don't think...Well, Genya can't really speak right now." Sanemi tried to stay polite to the police officer, but it was obvious that he was annoyed. "Can't this wait till later?"
"I can't..." Sabito trailed off, unsure as Senjuro hesitated at the door.
He couldn't do this. But he had to.
"Sabito, Genya's already been through hell." Giyuu glared at his brother, the expression so unlike him that the officer felt ashamed for doing his job. "This is too much."
"Look, Officer Urokodaki... As much as you want to preach about protecting the victims, that's not what your job is. Cops are meant to get criminals off the streets, simple as that. So, go get me that boy's report and stop playing the savior complex card."
Bullshit. This was all such bullshit. If Sabito knew that this would be what being a cop was like, he would have never gone to the academy. All he's ever wanted was to help people. But this, this wasn't helping anyone.
Officer Te Fujikasane could kiss Sabito's ass if this was what he thought 'protecting the peace' looked like. If that was how it was, then Sabito would have to look into changing positions. Maybe, he could try to be a detective. That had always seemed interesting. Maybe he could make a difference that way.
