Alex's Pov

We were driving home right now; the doctors told me that there was no need for Lilac to stay any longer, because she even handled the spinal block really well.

Lilac was always a strong person even when she was sensitive, but for a person who's been through so much she was the strongest person I knew.

However, after we lost our child, Lilac turned into a hollow shell, the whole time in the hospital she didn't drink or eat, she did nothing, she didn't even talk to Rowan or Zac after I have left for a while.

She was just sitting on the hospital bed staring into emptiness.

It really pained me to see her that way, knowing that I couldn't do anything. She was pushing me away, blaming me here and there.

But I didn't mind, I'm not going to let her go. But were we falling apart?

Lilac just stopped talking to me, avoiding me all she could, she hated me, wanting me gone.

I was just concentrating on the road, while I gave her even in this small space all the space she wanted.

We were both silent, and as we reached my mansion, I walked towards the passenger seat, wanting to help her out, as she just ignored me, walking past me.

I just let out a heavy sigh, seeing how farther away Lilac was trying to get.

I just followed her, wanting to make sure that she would go into our room, safely.

And just as she was about to step in, she turned to me, suddenly starting to talk, her voice cold and emotionless, but every word that was coming out of her mouth cutting into my heart, one cut deeper than the other.

"I won't stay here for long, with you. I want to go back to my own place" she said, not meeting my eyes in any way, I gently reached out to her, but she slapped my hand away.

"Angel, you-"

"-Don't call me that" she said, blankly. Playing with her hands, which just showed how nervous and anxious she was being right now.

"Lilac, you can stay all you want here, I can leave if you need me to leave...you just need to say it" I told her, honest and sincere.

I tried to reach for her small hands, that were fiddling nervously around, but all of sudden she slapped me on the face, anger showing through.

"I don't want to be with you anymore-"

"-Don't say that angel" I told her, but she sadly just shook her head.

"I hate you so much, I can't bear to see your face, I wish you were dead instead of her, I wish you would have just died, then she wouldn't have to. ALL OF THIS IS YOUR FAULT ALEX." Lilac said, pushing me backwards.

I just let her, because what should I say, when all she was speaking was the truth. I pulled them all into the dangers I was aware of.

Unexpectedly, Lilac began to twist something on her hand, and that was when I realized that she was pulling off the promise ring I gave to her.

She then threw it into my face. "Fuck you Alex Dalton, that promise ring means nothing to me of a person who can't keep his promise to his own child, his own daughter. You, YOU were the one who should have protected her. But all you did was let her die, right in front of our eyes...I saw the medical report of her, she was breathing for a moment, and you couldn't save her, you just fucking couldn't" she said starting to cry.

"If I don't have her in my arms, in my life, I don't need you in it" she sobbed, angrily wiping her tears away, trying not to cry, trying to fight against her own emotions.
