THE PERIL OF HONESTY

Being honest about your sickness
Being true to who you are
Be careful of its danger
Your blissful life might be over

Society's censure will be upon you
You will be watched and misunderstood too
You will lose the peace you've held for so long
You will ache with the untruth just to belong

What is more important to you?
To be heralded a winner who never lost?
Or to be someone every day struggling
Just to wake up, your muscles and bones are clamoring

Sometimes it is better to just keep mum
To avoid lengthy talks about how it was done
To stop explaining and telling the old-time tale
Of how for you've first loved and epically fail

But then the ache might never go
That whenever they introduce you to an epitome
You just smile deceitfully to get their approval
You just nod your head to appear frugal

You must save your words because they overflow
The way you talk like a wizard in bloom
The way you utter jargon unknown to them
Vague and hifalutin showing off the treasured gem

And when you are on a roll, they are dazed on how it could be
A mere someone could let verbose dictionary
Be out in the open fields as if not thinking
Unaware of what you do without your inkling

Oh, they just do not know, but let them wonder
Let them see you strange and full of marvel
Now, you can smile genuinely as you become an enigma
You're once in a blue moon's act of natural phenomena
