Pool was cool as it was starting to warm up outside. Max and Anastasia took a quick shower before heading to the pool. Billy checked in as he headed outside and mom's were waiting for him to come out. Waving at him as he walked passed him. "Morning ladies."
"Morning Billy." They said in unison.
Sitting on the chair for the life guards. With Max and Anastasia seeing how they reacted was kinda funny to them as the made from of them in their own way, they grown ups didn't know that they were making fun of them.
Swimming for awhile as it was getting hotter and hotter. And Max wasn't feeling it. Since she can burn easily, Anastasia went to the office to call her papa to have someone to come and get them. They would be going to the arcade.
Max went up to Billy as he was watching everyone including the mother's while winking at them. "Billy."
"What do you want Max?"
"Anastasia and myself are leaving."
"By walking?" He chuckles. "I told you to pack somethings so you wouldn't be bored."
"I did. But I didn't bring enough sunscreen Billy."
"You can have some of mine Max. Your mother left me in charge of you."
"Yes I know because we are family now. But I have a ride, Anastasia dad is here and is really making her uncomfortable." Max was looking at Anastasia who was waving at her saying it was time to go. "I'll make lunch for when you come home or dinner."
With a rough sigh and he was ticked. "Fine." But understand because Joe wasn't a very nice guy. "Just be ready when I come to pick you ladies up. You hear me?"
"Yes Billy." Starting walk away.
It a long morning but easy, Joe did leave about an hour after his sister and Anastasia had left. It was like a waste of time being there if you aren't going swimming.
Getting the girls from the arcade was quick and he didn't have to wait. "Thanks Billy." Anastasia said.
"It's whatever just get into the car." As they both started to get in.
"Mr. Portland said that he would like you to come in when you drop me off."
"Do you know what it's about?"
"It's lunch." Anastasia said.
"Max is this your way of getting out?"
"No, that wasn't her plan, it was mine. It's my apology for my father."
"You don't have to do anything me. I only did what was right." Driving off fastly once the girl got settle in.
Feeling overwhelmed he went through it even though he didn't want too. "Alright fine. Your old man sounds like he's favoring me."
"So what if he does.. Billy you are a hard worker. And who knows when my 'old man's' sees a very hard worker, he or she comes to work for him here. Doing real things. It's a big list."
"Really?"
"Yeah. But you don't have too of you don't want too. It's just an option."
Moving higher up to bigger and better things in life. And that would be on of things in life for him. More importantly he wanted move far far away from his father.
At the house lunch was being had and everything felt a little old but normal. Food is wonderful.
"Thank you again for taking my gal home." Mr. Portland said.
"No problem. Thank you for lunch." Billy threw away his plate away.
Peaceful way home as always parents were not home. Billy and Max did more of their school work. Billy would check on Max from time to time to see if she needed help with homework or anything really.
Midnight comes around, parents come in Neil a little drunk. While Susan was holding him up, both kids sleeping like a rock and that was better for all three of them.
School was long and hot in most of the rooms. In classes people would want to be working with Billy or sitting with him. While Max and Anastasia would be sitting with other kids. Other kids that Billy didn't like.
School ended and Billy was waiting with another girl. Missy as they were waiting. "Billy how much longer?"
Letting out some smoke. "They both know what time to be here." Both getting into the car.
Max and Anastasia was talking to Dustin and Lucas, Mike and Will joined in. So they were learning more about science. Which wasn't both of the girls cup of tea but they stayed anyways.
Walking out of the class room they had already called for a ride a head of time. Max arrived home as Billy leans against the front of their hours see her walking alone the road.
"What did I tell you about being late for pick up?"
"That I'm walking home." Duh dude that is what she did.
"Did the Portland's give you a ride home?"
"Anastasia was with me. We had to stay after school for a science project."
"You could had told me, instead of waiting for your ass."
Max rolled her eyes and went into her room to do home work, Billy had followed her once more. "Just come and find me next time."
With a sigh as she was getting her work out. "Okay."
