Bedtime in this family they could feel safe or felt like it. After doing her routine, Max went to bed early. Laying her bed she noticed that Billy's light was still on. Laying on her side as she stares at that light watching him walking back and forth, she went to sleep.

As she sleeps, the dream went deeper and deeper. Which turned into a nightmare. Billy was getting beat up by Neil, Max would push Neil away from him. But he would fight right back. Looking at he mother who did nothing but stare, Max fought over and over. Screaming for Billy to fight back or for her mom to stop the fight.

Billy was still up picking out what clothing to wear for his date night for tomorrow. Then heard a scream coming from Max's bedroom. He moved quickly and quietly not to wake up the adults. Entering Max's room, her face was all red as tears was coming down.

"What's wrong Max?" He shuts the door behind him.

Sniffling she tries to clam herself down knowing that he really wouldn't help with that. Whipping her eyes as she answers him. "I had a bad dream Billy, I'm sorry." Knees up to her chest as she couldn't control her cry's. Softening her cry's she placed a hand over her mouth.

Billy could tell it was a bad nightmare. With a sigh he walks over to her bedside. "I normally don't care.. but what happened?"

"Nothing." She didn't want to bother him with a dumb dream that she knows he is going to tell her.

"Alright fine." He was opened the door a little.

"Wait." As the door opens. "I'll tell you." Billy shuts the door. "Before you tell me that it was a dumb dream. I know. But this dream, it was about you and your dad."

"Again?" This wasn't the first time. Crossing his arms as he listens to her.

"Yes, this one, this was different Billy. He hurt you really bad. I try to push him off. He pushed me back, my mom wouldn't do anything. I screamed and yelled at you to fight back. I didn't care about him. I didn't want you to die." More tears come down as she whips the away. "I know that we don't care for each other Billy, I care enough for you to not be hurt like that." Blowing out to hot air as she looks away from him.

Oh yes this was worse than the other times she has it. Heading to her bedside. Billy sat and gently nudge her. "And I wouldn't want the same to happen to you, I'm sorry that you had a bad dream. It's nice to know that I have someone that a least cares for me, even though we may not see eye to eye." Handing her a tissue from the table side.

"Even when we are dicks to each other?"

"Even then. Now drink some water, I do believe that Susan gave you a bottle of Tylenol inside the table. Take two of those and try to get some sleep." Patting her leg.

"What if it happens again Billy and it gets worse."

"Well little shit. You tell that nightmare of yours that you are smarter and braver than he is. Okay?" Looking at the alarm clock it was midnight. "Night."

"Night Billy."

Walking out of her room and into his, he had the dream before when his dad would beat him. Dreaming that he would die, always hearing that nobody will ever love him or care for him. Remembering what his mother always told him that he is loveable and some people do care for him.

Going to sleep he also remembers time when Max and him were smaller that Max would always come into his room and sleep. At that time he felt like he was needed and he needed to stay to keep Max safe. Susan and keep herself safe. It like he would want to tell Max to come and wake him and he would stay up like he used too until she went to sleep. But they are both too old for that and he shrugged it off like it was nothing.
