"So where are my grandchildren from seattle?" My mom asked sitting up
"There in the daycare do you want to see them?" I replied
"Of course I want to see them I've only seen them 3 times in the flesh the rest have been on that stupid computer"
"Ok I'll go get them" I said turning to head out the door
"I'll come with you" Meredith said grabbing my hand
"So when are we going to tell my mom?" I asked looking at her
"I was thinking maybe when we got back to the room because I just got sent the sonogram here look" she said handing me her phone
"Hold on a minute" I said sitting on the floor
"What's wrong sweetie"
"I....i....do you know how when people say it's the calm before the storm?"
"Yea"
"Well I feel that the past few months have been the storm before the calm and I think it's going to stay this way and this baby is truly the calm"
"I agree, let's go get the kids I'm dying to tell your family"
We went and got the kids and came back when we walk into the room we saw Nancy and Steven sitting on the chairs
"Hey kids why don't you go say hi to your grandma and your aunties" Meredith said letting go of their hands. Bailey hobbled over to Lizzie and Zola to my mom and I looked at Steven.
"Hey Steven nice face whoever did that must be a genius are those thread stitches?" I said sarcastically and Kathleen gave out a slight giggle along with Lizzie
"Derek!!!" Meredith said slapping my chest and Steven just stared at me like he wanted to punch me right here and now.
"Well me and Derek have something to tell you all" Meredith said putting her hand on my back and mine on her waist
"Those 2 kids are going to turn into 3 in about 6 months we're pregnant" I said putting my hand on her stomach
"Oh my god really" my mom and 3 sisters said but Nancy didn't look so happy
"Oh great another mistress child" she smirked
Meredith gave her a look then walk out angrily and I just looked at Nancy with a what the hell kind of look
"Get after her" my mom shouted I ran out and Amy followed
"Meredith what's up?" Amelia asked
"I've had enough of her criticising me and my family and I won't stand for it anymore I love how the family has let me in with open arms and I love you guys for that but Nancy she just makes it harder for me to visit I would love to come here every holiday but I can't because I know an argument will break out"
"It's ok Meredith it just makes you even more of a sheperd than you were before" I said holding her thigh and smiling
"Meredith I just came to apologise again for......" Nancy was interrupted by Meredith slapping her really hard of the face and Nancy tried to swing back but missed and Steven came over and Meredith slapped him too ripping a couple of his stitches and they stormed away from the room.
"what went on there?" Kathleen asked
"Well Kathleen revenge is a dish best served cold" Meredith said winking at her while my mom sat and burst into laughter
"She truly is a Sheperd isn't she"
"She is mom she is" I said wrapping my arm around her and pulling her in
"What are you talking about?" She replied looking confused
"Well you stood up for your family that's what we do and Nancy has been waiting for that since she was 16 so well done Meredith."
A few hours later I went to take the kids to the park while Meredith fell asleep on the chair.
