"Hello Derek how are you" said the man sitting on the chair in the corner of the room
"Hello Thatcher I'm good how are you"
"I'm good Meredith should be waking up soon so I'm gonna go get some coffee"
As soon as Thatcher walked out Meredith woke up
"Hey gorgeous"
"Hey handsome"
"We have another baby Mer" I leaned down and kissed her
"Yea we do we have another baby what we going to call him"
"I was thinking about Mark Christopher Grey-Sheperd what do you think?"
"I was thinking Alex Mark Grey-Sheperd but I like Mark Christopher better"
"Well that's it sorted where is the little guy?"
"He's in the nursery where did my dad go?"
"He went for coffee I didn't know you wanted to call him I think it was a good idea"
"Oh ok and by the way I got Owen to change the name on my lab coat from Dr Meredith Grey to Dr Meredith Grey-Sheperd"
"Oh really I knew you were a Sheperd I love you so much want to go see our son can you walk?"
"Yea lets go"
I helped her up and we walked to the nursery since she wasn't hooked up to anything she put her arm around my back and I put mine around her shoulder when we got the nursery we were ambushed by Jackson who was working on the little girl next to Mark "so what's his name?" He asked
"Ehm Mark Christopher Grey Sheperd"
"That's a awesome name Mark would be so proud"
"Yea we're going to go make it official with the nursery"
"Ok I'll see you guys later"
"Yea bye Jackson"
We walked over to the nurses station "hi can I get baby Grey Sheperds chart we've picked a name"
"Yea sure here" I wrote his name on the chart and on the little name tag for his crib
"Has Zola and Bailey see you?"
"No do you want to go get them"
"What about you go get more rest and I'll get them after my surgery do you remember Mr and Mrs Rogerson with the son who has a tracheotomy?"
"Yea"
"Well the dad had to dive out his car door when a lorry driver decided to get drunk and rammed into his car but when he dived out he hit his head on the curb and I have to go in and stop the bleeding"
we got back to the room and I sat and talked to Thatcher for a while until I was paged
"Well I have to go I'll see you later" I said cupping her cheek and kissing her
"Ok bye"
MEREDITHS POV
"So you married the love of your life huh" Thatcher asked
"Yea I did he's amazing he always cares for me he's great with the kids it's just lately I feel that something's wrong you know like he's hiding something"
"What do you mean?"
"I just feel like after the plane crash something changed its been 3 years and he has never cried about losing his best friend or Lexie and also the fact that he's not doing as many surgery as he used too and when he does there the really simple ones that don't need extensive hand movements"
"Do you think it's his hand again?" Thatcher replied
"I think so I think he's just trying to hide his pain about it because he wants me to be happy"
"Why don't you talk to him when he comes back and I'll take a walk and go get you both something to eat if you want"
"Yea that would be nice dad thanks"
"Wait what?"
"Thank you" I said confused
"No it's just it's the first time I've heard you call me dad in a long time I forgot how good it felt to be called that because I never see Molly anymore after Susan died and I've only got you left"
"It's ok I never thought of you or Mom as parents until it was too late because you left because of my mom then she was too busy with work and by the time I realised what parents were it was too late"
"I feel the same by the time I realised I messed up with you it was too late I'm sorry"
"Yea me too"
3 HOURS LATER
DEREKS POV
It's been 1 hour since I came out from surgery and I was on the roof hitting golf balls out into the water as hard as I could. My life was hard at the moment the only thing keeping me sane were my kids and Meredith especially Meredith and I couldn't tell her what was going on because of what she would say I don't want to fight any more I can't deal with the pain.
My pager went off it was Mr Rogerson he's waking up.
When I got down there he had his eyes open and was speaking
"Hey Dr S were back again how's my nogin"
"Well the fact that your up making jokes it seems to be fine you worried your wife something I know by experience not to do"
"Speaking of your wife how is she?"
"Well she had our baby this morning a little boy he's strong and healthy like this little guy"
"Speaking of this little guy we went to his doctor earlier it turns out next months he won't need this" Mrs Rogerson said while her son Steven was smiling
"Well I better get going before my WIFE WORRYS" I said raising my voice for the last part to tell him not to do it again
"Oh I see what you did there"
"Yea I hope you did I'll see you guys later"
I walked up to Meredith's room and walked in
"Hey Mer"
"Hey Derek we need to talk" she said pointing to a chair
"Well I'm gonna go get food I'll be back soon" Thatcher said walking out
