"Derek where are we going" she asked
"You'll see when we land" I replied stroking her cheek
"Everyone can you fasten your seat belts as we are about to land" the attendant said over the intercom
After 15 mins the intercom came on again
"So ladies and gentleman we have just landed so enjoy your trip in Scotland"
"Oh my god Derek we're in Scotland" she said cheerfully
"Yes anything for my lady and also it's our anniversary in three days and this was the place we went on our first holiday and also I may have agreed to make a talk with a university about being doctors I was making a presentation on the flight over"
"Oh my you are truly the best husband ever and it's ok I love talking about our jobs"
2 HOURS LATER
"Derek I have something to tell you" Meredith said sitting on the couch
"What is it? Are you ok?" I said sitting on the couch next to her
"Yea I'm fine it's just I'm pregnant"
"Wait what are you ok about it"
"Yes Derek I'm ok I think this is moving on fine Mark was our child but we are having another baby Derek we should be happy about that"
"I am happy I'm really really happy Mer we're having ANOTHER BABY!!!!!" I said jumping up and down on the couch
"Stop you have the adrenaline of a 4 year old" she said slapping my leg gently
"I know but I'm really happy we're having another baby" I replied kissing her
"Well moving on from the baby where are we going today?"
"We are going to the Edinburgh castle then shopping"
"Sounds like fun"
AT THE CASTLE
"Hey excuse me can you take a picture of me and my wife" I asked the street seller handing over my camera
"Yea sure what's the occasion" he asked
"Celebrating our anniversary" Mer said
"Oh congrats why don't you give her a kiss make it look all notebook like"
I leant her back all first kiss as husband and wife like and I kissed her. We got the camera back and the first picture was me and Mer kissing with the castle behind us.
"My wife is truly beautiful I'm super lucky" I said grabbing her hand
"Well I'm pretty lucky myself"
"Haha is this you saying oh Derek can I borrow your credit card pleeeeaaaase"
"Ha no.....sort of.......maybe.....yea well what's yours is mine and what's mine is yours and also I left my money in the room"
"It's fine Mer i love you so just take it as a early anniversary present"
"I love you too Mr Mcdreamy" she said leaning up and kissing me
2 DAYS LATER
"Hey beautiful wake up it's time to get going we have another car journey" I said cuddling into her
We had left Edinburgh and we were about to leave Glasgow to head to Dumfries it is a place an hour away from Edinburgh and it was the home of the famous poet and music writer Robert Burns.
"Just 5 more minutes it's warm in here with you"
"Meredith get up"
"Ok mr bossy pants"
We got up and got going when we got to Dumfries we got treated by fields and horses but when we got into town we found the university pretty easily
"so University of the west of Scotland you are the gem of Dumfries" I said steering into the parking lot
"What?" Meredith said really confused
"That's what it said on the information website"
"Oh ok"
We walked into the front office and we were greeted by a teacher who sounded American
"Hello I'm Dr Derek Sheperd and this is Dr Meredith Grey-Sheperd the doctors from America you guys invited to make a talk" I said
"Oh yes give me a minute.....Alice could you grab the name tags for Derek and Meredith please they're over in the top drawer. So where about a in America are you guys from?" She asked
"Seattle and what about you I recognised you accent is it Bostonian?" Meredith asked
"Yes I'm from right in the middle of Boston"
"You know I used to live in Boston my mom moved there but I'm originally from Seattle"
"Well here are your badges I'll walk you down"
"So i don't think we caught your name" I asked
"Dr Lexie Chapman I teach Human Anatomy i used to be a surgeon but I ehm lost my leg in a accident in the hospital and I chose never to go back and Meredith I know who you are your the daughter of the famous Elis Grey and Dr Sheperd I know who you are too mr I created a clinical trial and it worked but when your wife helped you still called it the Sheperd method so don't laugh at your wife" she said as I looked at Meredith who was smiling at my mis fortune
"So here we are you have 15 minutes to set up then you will be here for and hour and a half then lunch then another hour and a half " she said walking away
we got ourselves ready then Meredith ran behind the big curtain and I heard her being sick so I ran after her and held back her hair
"Do you still want to do this?" I asked
"Yea sure you'll mess it up if you do it alone" she said hitting my arm
"Good point lets go" I said winking at her
We watched as everyone came into the hall as we were about to start it was really noisy with people talking so I whistled loudly to get their attention
"So let's all make a deal if you don't want to listen fine just sit there and respect the ones who do and for the ones who do want to listen I'm sorry if you don't understand me just raise your hand and tell me and if you have a question about the subject please ask and if I don't understand you I'm sorry" I said
"So after the brief information I just want to thank you all for waiting patiently through that very slow and boring speech" Mer said making a few people giggle
"So I'm Dr Derek Sheperd and I'm a neurosurgeon at Grey-Sloan memorial hospital is Seattle"
"And I'm Dr Meredith Grey-Sheperd and I'm a general surgeon at Grey-Sloan memorial hospital as well"
After she said that several hands were raised so I picked one
"So are you like brother and sister in law or something because Dr Sheperd your like really good looking" a girl asked
"Jennifer that's inappropriate" a teacher said
"No it's fine....Dr Grey-Sheperd is my wife and we will pick up on working in a job with your spouse where you have to make tough decisions"
2 HOURS LATER
"So that's the end of our presentation thanks for listening if you have any questions please ask them now" Meredith asked and several hands were raised
"If you have any questions about Dr Sheperds looks drop your hands now and the same with Dr Grey-Sheperd" when everyone dropped their hands it left two people a male and a female sitting next to each other
"Well since there are only two of the rest of you get back to class and Jo and Derek stay behind" the head teacher said
When everyone had gone it left me and Meredith with Jo and Derek
"So what is your questions" I asked
"Well it's sort of a joined question sir"
"No please call us Derek and Meredith and what's your question" Mer asked
"Well we were wondering how you guys cope with a relationship at work then leaving at the door at night because we are both in our last few weeks here and we have been together since our fist year in high school and are wanting to both become doctors"
"Well me and Meredith have been together for fifteen years and we have two children and one on the way so it's really easy to leave work life at the door and our personal life never gets in the way of our work life yea fine we get in a few fights here and there but they alway flame out an hour after the argument"
"So what he's trying to say is that when you feel the connection....the spark of love you'll do just fine because seventeen years ago I hated him he was big headed his ego was massive he couldn't get through a door without having to prick his head with a needle to deflate it a bit but now I think he is the most charming handsome man in the world and I'd never replace him but I think after another fifteen years of being together I might" she said while I pulled her in closer
"Well if you guys are that cute then it gives us hope on our future thanks" Jo said
We watched as they walked out hand in hand remembering what me and Meredith were like when we first got together.
THE NEXT DAY
"Hey beautiful" I said turning round from making breakfast
"Hey handsome how's my Mcdreamy this morning" she replied
"I'm better now your here and happy anniversary sweetie I love you"
"I love you too" as I was leaning in to kiss her one of our phones went so I picked it up
"Hello........ok........thank you .........we'll be there tomorrow...........yea I'll tell her.....ok bye"
"Der who was that" she asked
"It was Molly Grey she called to say your father died yesterday"
"Ok we better get home" she said already packing her things but it got too much for her and she broke down
"Oh Meredith come here" I said letting her fall into my arms
"Derek I have no parents left even though they never were good parents it just feels wrong"
"Meredith you have my mom and she loves you it's ok"
A few hours later we were on the next plane back home to go get what we wanted from the house
