"You were in my room yesterday, weren't you?" she began, trying to change the subject.
"Yeah," he admitted curtly, squinting at the whiskey bottle again.
"Good, I was beginning to think a whiskey-drinking ghost had tucked me in," she joked warmly, but no response elicited from the hunter.
"No, it was me and I accidentally left my glass," he muttered, suddenly starting to leave, "We should slowly going to go"
Irritated by the rejection, however, she agreed with him.
"I'll go pack my FBI outfit then," she mumbled, turning away to go to her room.
Wistfully, Dean watched the woman go, wishing he had just hugged her tightly and begged her not to do that to him. If she didn't want him anymore after all this, he could understand. He would even accept it if she eventually had someone else. But that this 'other' already existed and that it was his brother, of all people, hit him right in the face.
His legs carried him unnoticed to the garage. He hadn't been in here since his return to the bunker. When he saw his baby, he smiled despite his worries.
"Hey, did you miss me baby?" he asked the car, stroking her tinny curves, "Sam apparently didn't just take care of Josie while I was gone"
He made no effort to hide his jealousy from the car, because Baby would never betray him.
"You even got polished. So he spoiled you pretty good" he stated and whispered to himself "I don't want to know how he spoiled Josie"
"Just to be clear, it was me who took care of her while you were gone," Josie informed him, who luckily for Dean couldn't hear that last part, "I also borrowed her for a ride sometimes, I hope you're not mad at me for that"
She walked around the car and let her eyes roam over it.
"No, she needs to be moved or she will start to rust" he replied matter-of-factly.
Actually, he wanted to tell her thank you and that he could never be mad at her no matter what she did.
"I've been very tender too," Josie smirked, blaming Dean's reaction on his mood, "Am I right, my beauty?"
"I can imagine ... that," he growled, as his head completed her sentence with a jealous: 'to Sam'.
Sighing, he closed his eyes and finally made an effort to banish those thoughts.
"Well come on get in, when you hear her purr you'll be in a better mood," the brunette said and sat down on the passenger seat.
Shortly after, Dean also took a seat behind the wheel and took another deep breath. They had a drive of several hours ahead of them and neither of them was sure what it would entail. But Josie was right about one thing. As soon as the engine was running, Dean relaxed, just listening to the bubbling sound and his favorite rock music as he drove along the roads. For a moment, he even forgot that he wasn't alone in the car. It wasn't until Josie was humming along to a song, lost in thought, that Dean remembered. He squinted over at her, but she just stared absently out the window.
