Since she was too agitated, Dean decided to ride with her while Sam took the Impala. Wordlessly, Josie stared out the side window. Jackson was dead and Andy was avenged, but she didn't feel any better. On the contrary, she now felt as if she had lost the meaning of her life. The reason why she had started hunting in the first place. This was not a nice birthday, she thought.
"Honey? Are you sure everything is okay? You've been so quiet since we left the hotel," Dean inquired, driving.
"Why doesn't that feel good? I killed that son of a bitch!" she muttered sorrowfully.
Dean signaled to Sam ahead of them, and pulled over to the side of the road as the Impala continued. Josie looked irritated at her driver, who gingerly put a hand to her cheek.
"I told you about my mom. When we took down Azazel we didn't feel any better, it didn't bring Mom back and it cost Dad his life. We fantasized ourselves into something. We thought if we hunt down the demon we would be full of pride and get drunk for three days straight to celebrate it. Instead, we just sat there and thought about what to do next. Sammy just wanted to find that bastard who killed mom and his girlfriend, but once you're in that vicious cycle you don't get out so fast," Dean smiled and looked to the rear of the Chevrolet that was gradually disappearing in the distance.
"I don't know what's next for me, I really just wanted to find and kill that werewolf, after that I would have gone back to my old life, but I can't"
"Why?"
"Because of you, someone has to take care of you and you need me right now" she clarified and the hunter smirked.
Her eyes suddenly began to sparkle, that's what she was missing for a moment. A task to go on, Dean's destiny was her solution. She had found a purpose again to not give up this life as a hunter.
"So you'll stay with us?" he made sure.
"Yes I'll stay as long as you'll have me. Now get out, I want to go home, this is my car".
Before Dean could say anything Josie had gotten out and was already on driver's side opening the door.
"But your driving makes me sick" he whined and reluctantly got out.
"You could have gone with Sam," she grumbled, grinning mischievously at him.
Jerking, she pushed him against the car and put her hands on his chest. Calmly, she looked him in the eye while he didn't quite understand what she was up to.
"Thank you," she breathed, giving him a loving kiss, "For everything!"
