I hadn't seen Ashton in a good five days, for obvious reasons. I was still adjusting to my job, the workload was a ton so I really had to step my game up even if Nathan praised me for my work, I never felt like it was good enough.

I also was working out either before or after work, leaving me barely anytime to even eat dinner, which I did skip one day due to lack of time and energy.

Although I hadn't spoke to Ashton I know he told me he was running some errands so that's why I was on my way to the gym.

I rarely worked out with Anthony, now I just do whatever my brain comes up with and do it for about an hour or so.

I sighed once I saw James comes into sight, shirtless. I've come to realize three things: 1. He never wears a shirt, 2. He's actually quite annoying, 3. He always finds a way to spot me, it was ridiculous really.

"Kat! Just finished?" He asks me as I grab a water bottle from the mini fridge opening it instantly to quench my thirst. I nod, sending a polite smile his way.

"That's cool, are you busy after this?" He asks and I furrow my eyebrows confused at his question. I actually had two hours till I had to go in to work.

"I'm not actually." I say, opening the bottle and taking a long sip.

"Let's go grab some after workout grub, I'm thinking habachi?" He says shooting me a toothy grin.

I couldn't say no to him, I would hate to be rude.

"Sure." I shrug.

I held my stomach as I tried to control my laughter although it seemed impossible.

"Stop - oh my god, your childhood was horrendous." I say wiping the dampness at the corners of my eyes.

James just chuckles at me, shaking his head. "I'm sure yours is more horrendous than mine. Tell me about it, your childhood I mean." He says and I instantly freeze

I didn't even feel like I had a childhood anymore.

"Uh - it's a touchy subject." I say looking at my empty plate and shrugging.

"Oh, sorry for bringing it up." James says and I shrug at him.

Over the past 35 minutes I've really gotten to know him and I feel bad for always wanting to get away from him. He was funny, nice and definitely smarter than his 'juice head' exterior. I also wondered why he was single, he was young and attractive, great personality, sweet... Maybe he had some major flaw or he's just picky with women. Who knows.

"So tell me - how's Frankie with my sister? She rarely ever speaks to me about it and I figure your pretty close to the dude." James says crossing his arms on the table and staring at me, I've come to realize he's a very 'eye to eye' person and I on the other hand was a more 'eye to feet' type of person.

"I haven't spoken to Frankie recently but he texted me the other night saying he needed gift ideas for her birthday or something? I don't remember." I shrug, shaking my head.

"Oh yeah - her birthday this Saturday, you should come." He says smiling at me. I nod, taking a sip of my water.

"I'll consider." I say just as a hand is felt on my shoulder.

"Consider what?" Ashton's voice says from above me. My eyebrows instantly raise, shocked to see him here.

"Ashton, what are you doing here? How'd you know I was here?" I say confused, did I text him earlier telling him I was going to be here? I don't think so..

"I'm eating with a friend," he says and I nod, his eyes quickly flicker to James then back to me.

"Oh! This is James, he's the brother of the girl Frankie's dating." I say and Ashton nods, shaking his hand.

"Nice to meet you-" a familiar bark comes from outside the restaurant and I quickly turn to look out the window and there's Maxie tied up to a table with another dog and a girl. A beautiful girl at that.

I quickly gulp, trying to recover and turn back to Ashton.

"It's not what it looks like-" Ashton says reading my face and I shake my head.

"Not here, Ashton." I mutter under my breath unable to look up at him.

I didn't want to have any conversation with Ashton infront of James, or anyone for that matter.

"Well then can I speak to you outside?" Ashton says and I gulp once again. Talk? Outside? Where that model looking girl can hear Ashton dump me? No way.

"Maybe we should have this conversation another time, I'll call you later." I say not looking at his eyes.

Ashton sighs and nods his head, I think for a few seconds he's left but when I feel fingers grab under my chin, kissing me swiftly, I obviously know he hasn't walked away.

"I love you." I mutters and I gulp for the third time. "I love you too." Ashton pecks my lips once more and walk away but to his supermodel of a date.

Once he's gone I instantly sigh, running my hands through my hair.

"It's probably not what it looks like." James says and I almost forgot he was here.

"It does, look at her, she's gorgeous." I say looking out the window but quickly look away, not wanting to see the interaction.

"I'm sure Ashton thought me and you being here looked like something, and besides, your without a doubt prettier than that girl." James says and I can't help but blush.

"Yeah, whatever."
