Ashton's POV
I watched from Kat's bed as she ran around to get her brush, lipstick and any other girl products she apparently thought she needed.
I watched as she puckered her lips, coloring in her light pink lips with the red lipstick that she wears to work.
She looked gorgeous as always. Any time of day, any day, any place - she was beautiful yet she colored on her face thinking she needed all that when she didn't.
"Stop staring at me, your making me mess up." Kat says looking at me through the mirror. I can't help but chuckle at her. "You don't need that - all of that gunk your putting on your face."
She chuckles and shrugs her shoulders. "I don't even put a lot, just enough to not show my pale uneven skin." She says raising an eyebrow at me.
I shrug and put my hands up in surrender. "I'm just sayin' - maybe I like pale uneven skin."
Kat lets out a cackle then covers her mouth, shaking her head. "Sure you do."
I roll my eyes at her playfully and place my arms behind my head. "I do."
Kat makes a 'hmph' noise and begins to grab her phone and my keys, her car was still filled with her stuff but since she's moving out soon, it's pointless to empty it.
"Well - I'm gonna get going. I won't be back till later later because Nathan and I are catching lunch afterwards so you eat. I'll talk to you later." Kat says grabbing her wallet and putting it in her bag. I can't help but look at her sideways, she looked and kind of sounded like a mother. They way she is hustling around the room and telling me she won't be back till the night.
I picture her like that when we have children. Wait - did I just say that? Do I want kids with her? Of course I do. Not now, but I want it to be her. I want everything to be done... With her.
"Hello? Earth to Ashton?" Kat says waving her hand in my face. "Sorry, still a bit tired, I'll probably nap till you get home. Call me when your on your way or something." I say and lean forward to peck her ruby red lips.
She nods and walks out the room, seconds later I hear the front door open and shut.
I hear Maxie's paws glide across the floor, her body joining me in Kat's bed.
"Just me and you for a couple hours, Maxie. Like old times."

At lunch with Nathan (one of my many bosses) it's both awkward and scary eek
I read over over Kat's text, chuckling at the 'eek' she added.
I sent back a 'relax, just pretend he's me' but then I realized she kisses me and instantly sent another text saying 'pretend he's your brother'
I hate my brother - I can't hate my boss.. Not yet anyways. He's coming back from the restroom, c u at home luv u
I can tell he was nearing the table with the way she got sloppy with her texting. She rarely every typed like that. I chuckled and sent back an 'I love you' and locked my phone, grabbing a bag of chips and sitting on the couch, Maxie on my lap.
I watched whatever mindless show was on but quickly felt bored. The sun was seeping through my window, tempting me to get out of my quiet apartment. So that's what I do.
I grab Maxie's leash and my shoes and walk out the door.
I have sunglasses on my face, shading me from me from the blazing sunlight.
Maxie kind of drags me through the street, I rarely take her outside. I continue to walk towards the dog park.
Once I smell the semi gross dog smell and hear all the barking, I know we're close. Maxie begins to pick up her speed and I try to grip the leach good enough.
Once we hit the grass, a couple dogs walk over to Maxie, smelling her, you know, normal dog stuff.
"To think, guys will be over my daughter one day." I mutter to myself. To think about kids was crazy. I was so young. Kat was young.
I didn't want to wait till we were old but now is way too soon.
I'm just having baby fever.
"McRoy! Come here boy!" A girl tells beckoning her dog to go to her but the dog, McRoy is too engrossed in Maxie.
"Damn dog never listens to me." The girl says walking up to me. I give her a polite smile and stare at the dogs smelling each other.
"If we don't break them up soon, we'll have to schedule dates just for them to see each other." The girls says chuckling, I nod.
"Yeah, Maxie sure is a looker." I say complementing my dog.
"So is her owner." The girl next to me mumbles and I furrow my eyebrows, quickly recovering and staring at the dogs.
"Names Katherine." The girl says extending her hand to shake. Her name is tangly reminds me of Kat, my Kat.
"Ashton." I say nodding my head at her and shaking her hand.
"I don't think I've ever seen you at the dog park..."
"Cause Maxie is an indoor dog at heart although she's like 30 pounds." I chuckle to myself.
"Oh, McRoy loves grass so.. Yeah." She chuckles and I nod.
This was awkward. I think I had enough of the outside world, Maxie would agree with me.
"Well I'm going to go." I say looking at Katherine. "It was nice meeting you." I say nodding towards the girl.
"Wait, can I maybe have your number?" She asks just as I turned around. Damn. If I was single I would have been the one to ask her. But I have Kat. I was never a cheater.
"Sorry - I have a girlfriend." I say and turn back around.
"She doesn't let you have friends?" The girl challenges, raising a brow.
"She does - but this never works. You wanting my number just to be 'friends'. Nothing will end well." I chuckle shaking my head and walking away.
"Who said I wanted you anyways? I just want to be friends - for the sake of our dogs." The girl says with pleading eyes.
I sigh and nod, Maxie looked pretty fond of the mutt.
Katherine smiles brightly at me, handing me her phone.
I type in my number, hand her phone back and walk away.
"Bye Ashton!" Katherine yells behind me, I raise a hand waving a little as I continue my walk back home.
