Ashton's POV
I didn't watch the film, not one minute. My eyes were shamelessly trained on Kat, and only Kat.
I watched as she'd smile at the cute moments, her eyes sparkling when the guy said he loved her.
I watched as she bit down on her lip to stop herself from crying as the couple broke up.
I watched as she relaxed, her face holding happiness and hope as they reunited together, resulting in an happy ending.
I wish she looked at me like that, wearing her emotions on her sleeve. Everything would be so easy.
But then again, why have it easy? I'm learning everything about her. Most guys will never try as hard as I have.
"Ready?" Kat asks standing up, the credits rolling on the large screen. "Yeah." I yawn and stretch my arms as I stand up.
"How'd you like it?" She asks from behind me as we walk towards the exit of the theatre. Damn, I should have paid more attention to it.
"Uh, it was good." I say, praying she doesn't ask any specific questions. "I'm glad." She says quietly and we begin walking to my car, side by side. Our shoulders nudge each other and I look at her hand dangling next to her.
What's a date without hand holding? I take a deep breath, grabbing her hand and intertwining our fingers.
I feel her stiffen at my touch, her steps at slower, more careful.
"Want some ice cream, heard its good for the soul." I joke and look at her, man I was awkward.
"Uh.. Yeah. Sure." She says quietly, her fingers aren't bent around my hand like mine are. I look down at our hands and frown, I gave her hand a small squeeze, her head turning to look at me.
Her fingers slowly, mold into mine and she sighs.
"Your buying." I furrow my eyebrows but then laugh and nod, I'd buy her anything she's want.
-
"Look at us, being all cute and stuff." I nudge Kat's shoulder as she chuckles and takes a spoonful of her mint chocolate chip ice cream.
I had gotten the birthday mix.
"Yeah, we look cute but our appearances... Not so much." She chuckles and I look down at our outfits. I was wearing all black and she wore black with a white shirt.
"Grunge is cute." I shrug and she giggles and nods.
We continue to eat relatively quiet, the only noise we hear are the people around us.
"What's your type of girl?" Kat asks all of a sudden, her face looking at her ice cream then back at me. That was random.
"I- uh what?" I chuckle, I was already getting nervous and flustered for no reason.
"What type of girls do you chase?" Kat asks shrugging.
"I-uh I don't know, nice ones? I don't think I have a type." I say honestly.
"Have all your past girlfriends been blonde?" She asks quietly and I furrow my eyebrows, deciding to just answer her.
"Yes, my 3 girlfriends were all blonde. Why?"
"Nothing, just curious." She shrugs and finishes her ice cream.
"What's your type?" I ask and she looks at me, her mouth opens but then closes.
"Kyle." She whispers faintly and I bite my lip in anger. I don't know why he made me so angry, he just did.
"So blonde and assholes?" I ask, putting my head in my hands.
"He wasn't an asshole... till after the scenario." She shakes her head, eating her ice cream faster.
"Yeah, sure." I mutter and stand up to throw away my cup. "Ready?" She nods and stands, tossing hers away.
We walk silently out of the ice cream parlor and towards my car.
"You know... We are always so cold and hot. That's like us." I realize, laughing alittle as I open Kat's door.
"Yeah." She agrees and sits down, I close the door and jog to the other side.
"Let's go home." I say extra cheerily, I don't know why I decide to be a doofus for. I just liked seeing Kat's multiple reactions to me.
"Your home."
"Ours, temporarily." I correct her.
"Yeah, whatever." She chuckles and rolls her eyes and I smile at her glad of my achievement at one of her reactions.
