"let's go now" I heard a loud voice screaming behind me but my eyes wouldn't open or move, as my body froze in panic. I could listen to the sound of metal banging against metal, people falling down around me, and screams filling my head. My legs felt stuck like I didn't know how to walk, and I hid my face behind my arms. I knew I was about to die, so the most logical thing to do was to close my eyes and accept it. But as soon as I took a deep breath, I felt a pair of hands pulling me by my arms making me stand up.
"Y/N LET'S GO" Nakia was shaking my arms, as gently as possible, trying to get a reaction out of me "C'mon" She whispered as I finally looked at her.
I finally started running following her through the others, watching people fall onto the ground with spears pierced into their chests. I could see the Dora Milaje fighting as strong as always, but the screams... oh the screams were too loud.
"Good morning Y/N" I heard as opened my eyes, the soft light gently burning them.
"you can come in... You know that" I laughed as the brown door slowly opened letting Shuri enter.
"Y/n are you seriously still in bed?!" she raised an eyebrow with a wide smirk on her face "I've had time to eat breakfast, went for a walk with Okoye, and made a huge progress on my research, while you wasted yours in bed!" she crossed her arms.
"Shut up. You know I love this bed" I smiled still fully lying on the soft sheets "Why didn't you wake me up if it bothers you so much?!"
"I wouldn't do that" she started to walk towards me as I pet the bed inviting her "I'm not gonna go back to bed Y/N"
"Can't you just sit for a bit?" I wined turning on my side to face her "C'mon. It's not like you have duties to run to" my lips curled a bit as she sat beside me.
"When are you going home?" she whispered.
Since that day, Shuri had taken me in her house. She said it was just for her to make sure my wounds were properly healed, but I knew she wanted me to feel safe. And what better place than Wakanda? It had been 1 month, be it felt just like yesterday.
It all started as an exchange program in college since Wakanda had opened doors to the rest of the world. The program was about the effects of vibranium on the fauna and flora around it, and as soon as I knew about it, I instantly applied, being called in not even two weeks later. After a couple of weeks on the field, a rival tribe invaded Wakanda, taking me in. Not that had any special meaning to them, I just... was the only one who didn't know how to fight. Easy target. I had always been a calm person, and hated wars, guns, and violence in general, so the whole thing was upsetting, to say the least."oh," I swallowed sitting up straight "I'm sorry...I'm pushing it..." Of course, it was time to go home, I was living here, rent-free, and I didn't have anything to offer them, just spending their resources and money.
"Yo.. no" she shook her head with her eyes wide open "We don't mind having you here... I mean, I like having you here. You're the only one here who doesn't spend her days dancing around spears" a laugh came out of her lips. "I was just wondering.. Your dad must miss you" her eyes showed concern.
"I've been talking to him almost every day... Are you sure it's okay for me to stay?" I felt my voice cracking.
She just nodded with a smile giving me a gentle push on my shoulder before getting up, grabbing me by the arm and starting to pull it. "now c'mon... Get dressed, and join me for lunch.....please" she squeezed her eyes smiling at me.
"Ugh...you're so annoying" I wined letting myself get pulled by her. She felt like home.
