I slowly walked into Jan's room searching around it. Her bed was still unmade, a pile of clothes were tossed in a chair and her desk was filled with books and papers all messed up.
"I'm just gonna find it" she said walking towards her laptop and sitting down on her bed.
I nodded staying still at the same spot, my arms crossed in front of my chest feeling a little uncomfortable.
"You can move you know?" she smirked at me making me chuckle.
"Sorry" whispered taking a few steps looking at some pictures she had on her table and noticing she had brothers "how many brothers do you have?" I asked.
"Three" she smiled "I miss them like crazy".
I looked at her seeing some tenderness for the first time and letting a smile form on my lips.
"OH YOU HAVE A GUITAR?" I yelled noticing the instrument in the corner of her room, it was beautiful. Light wood and shiny chords still untouched.
"oh yea.." she said looking at me "My mom gave me as a present, but I never learned how to play it... I brought over here thinking I would finally begin to learn, but..." she shook her head laughing a little "Do you play?"
"A little yeah... I learned it when I was little... I haven't touched in one in years" I sighed running my fingers through the guitar.
"Show me" she mumbled putting down her laptop and nodding her head in my direction.
"oh shit... Nah" I chuckled "I don't even think I remember how to" I said looking at her.
"c'mon... I bet it's still there..." she frowned her eyebrows at me.
I sighed pressing my lips together and feeling her eyes begging me to play something, so I grabbed the guitar and walked over towards her bed sitting on the edge, and stretching my back a little feeling a little comfortable around the instrument... "okay... but I won't promise anything incredible" I smirked before my fingers started to pick some strings creating a melody with it.
I felt something in me coming back, my hand wasn't strumming softly as it was before, as my body moved a little to the rhythm of the music and I notice a smile forming on my lips.
"Okay...all that bullshit of 'oh I don't remember how to play'..." Jan said with a smirk on her lips "You're so good"
"thank you..." I said feeling my cheeks turning red.
"You should play more often..." she said looking into my eyes
"Oh...with all the work and research I've got on my hands, I don't think I have the time for it" I said still running my fingers slowly through the strings.
"Excuse me" I heard a raspy voice interrupting us as my head turned quickly towards the door finding Shuri with her arms stiffing around her body and a repulsed look in her eyes.
"Hey" Jan smiled at her as Shuri didn't even glanced in her direction.
"What are you doing in here?" She mumbled to me as I felt my body shiver at her tone.
"What do you care?" I spat staring at her.
She just stood still, not a word came out of her mouth but I could see her biting her inner lip annoyingly.
"Ahm..I was just about to show her an article I..." Jan quietly said trying to lighten things up.
"I wasn't talking to you" Shuri said not even turning her eyes toward her.
"Yo" Jan shook her head getting up "Chill out" she said walking towards Shuri.
"Don't come near me" Shuri whispered finally turning her head towards the girl.
"Shuri what the fuck?!" I finally said getting up and walking in her direction as Jan stood still evaluating the situation.
"What are you doing here?!" Shuri repeated herself as I felt my chest getting a little tighter.
"What do you care!?" I also repeated myself noticing her jaw clenching up.
"Are you fucking serious?!" she asked pressing her lips together and frowning her eyebrows.
"Hey.." Jan stepped in again as Shuri turned towards her almost gumming.
"Are you deaf?!" she tilted her head a little.
"Oh fuck this" I sighed walking past Shuri and skimming my arm in hers "I'm done."
I kept walking as my eyes started to fill up with tears of rage noticing she didn't even bother to come after me or to say anything else. And as I made my way toward my room, it hit me. It was over.
