After 3 days, Riri had to leave back home. Shuri had already gathered the council, as they agreed it would be good for her to go away for a few days, leaving the condition that if something happened, Okeye would immediately call, and Shuri would return. I could tell she was absolutely nervous about leaving Wakanda, which seemed to have never been a problem until now.
I understood and made sure she was comfortable with leaving, as she would smile and tell me to chill, even tho I could see the anxiety in her.
I was standing in my room, looking at all the clothes I had. Some I had brought home, others, Shuri had gotten me after the events of the month prior. I just had 1 suitcase, I wasn't prepared for staying this long.
"Are you packing everything?" Shuri mutter slowly entering my room.
"It doesn't fit" I sighed letting go of the fabrics in my hands and standing still looking at the mess on my bed.
"Yeah but..." she approached me, her arms behind her back, gently biting her lower lip "Are you gonna pack everything?" She glanced at me.
"I just told you... it doesn't fit everything Shuri" I repeated looking back at her.
"I can give you an extra suitcase...but my question remains... are you pack..."
"Should I?!" I interrupted her turning around at her as her face changed into a confused look. "I mean... Am I coming back?!"
Shuri sighed, moving away some clothes and sitting on my bed, her torso slightly laid back waiting for me to continue.
"It's not like I don't have my own house, and since we're making this trip, it's only logical for me to hop on a train and go home..." I looked down at her "right...?"
She kept quiet, looking at the floor. I could see her thinking it all through, she had a soft look in her eyes, but yet, I could also sense some kind of disturbance in her. She opened her mouth for a second, closing it right after pressing her lips together.
"come here" she whispered gesturing towards an empty space next to her with her head.
I obeyed, quietly sitting and turning my body towards her, waiting for something.
Of course, I wanted to stay. It wasn't even a fair question. Being there, the place where I was doing all of my research, a place where technology wasn't a problem, a place where I had total freedom, I could do whatever I wanted, at any time I wanted. Probably the only place I felt 100% safe after what happened. And she was there. Everyday. Even knowing she was locked in that lab, I knew that just by walking down the stairs, I could see her.
"What's on your mind?" She asked.
"I don't know..." my shoulders shrugged as I tried my best to avoid her eyes.
"You don't have to go." her tone was firm now like she was ordering me "I can always say I do not have an extra suitcase and you are forced to come back to get your things"
"Shuri" I chuckled.
"What?" her head was leaning towards me "I don't want you to go. It's that it?" I looked up at her, my face staying less than an inch away from hers. I could feel my lips starting to dry forcing me to swipe my tongue on them. "Are you worried that I might be sick of you?" she muttered as her eyes jumped from my eyes to my lips and then my eyes again.
"No..." I breathed out.
"Then...." I trembled as she skimmed her lips on mine "stay." I swallowed at the sound of that specific word coming from her mouth "Don't even pack your bags. I'll buy you new clothes in Boston".
I smiled against her lips, regretting it right away as I stop feeling them on me "Then I would need a third suitcase."
"I can get you that too" she smirked.
"Okay" I whispered before leaning against her making her finally kiss me again. This time, no alcohol involved. I moved as she moved. Letting her lead me to complete it. I felt her hand grabbing my waist, as I tangled my leg around hers. Her body moved against mine, as her right hand climbed to my cheek pressing it in a gentle way making my stomach twirl around for a few seconds. Her breathing was making my skin burn at each exhale, her scent intoxicating me, I wanted more. My hands grabbed her sweatshirt pulling her more into me, as closest as possible, I would feel her chest rising against mine, her heartbeat was as fast as mine which made me relax a little.
"We should go to sleep" she breathed against my lips.
"Why?" I whispered not being able to open my eyes.
"It's late..." she finally said pulling back and creating a cold void between us "We need to wake up early tomorrow"
I let my head fall back in frustration, taking a second to look back at her and finding an amused smile on her lips. Shit. The lips. She ran one of her hands through her hair once more, the other was still holding my hand in her lap using her thumb to gently rub my skin.
"I'm guessing...No need for an extra suitcase?" she squeezed her eyes at me making me laugh. "Good".
With that, Shuri got up walking towards the door letting me watch every move she made before turning around one last time. "You should clean your bed... It's messy" she teased before closing the door and leaving.
